Book7Chapter2
“It’s good that Jordan didn’t hate her,” Elena said calmly.
“We were in the same school. Back then… sigh, he had a hard time. If it weren’t for his ex–girlfriend, would we have gotten together so late?”
“Yeah, yeah. Miss Murphy is a famous celebrity. No ex–girlfriend could compare to
a celebrity.”
The atmosphere warmed up again.
I pulled down my hat. I just wanted to leave quickly.
The fruit knife cut my hand. I hissed in pain, drawing the guests‘ attention.
“What’s going on? Can’t even slice fruit properly?” Elena complained.
“I’m sorry. I’ll get a clean plate,” I said.
I picked up the plate and was about to run.
“Wait.”
Jordan suddenly stopped me.
He spoke each word slowly.
“Turn around,” he said.

My body felt like it was nailed to the spot.
One second, two seconds.
The supervisor came over just in time.
“Sorry. She is new and not familiar with the job yet. Today’s fruit platter is on the
house.”
The supervisor winked at me. “Hurry and get a new one.”
I managed to escape.
Later, the supervisor told me.
“Be smarter next time. We’ve all been newbies. If you get a complaint, tonight’s
work will be for nothing.”
“Thank you,” I said.
“No problem. Be especially careful with that VIP room. It’s full of important guests. The youngest and most handsome one in the middle, he’s the CEO of an innovative tech company. We can’t afford to offend him.”
“I’m a bit scared. Can you help me take the oranges over?”
“Sure.”
I breathed a sigh of relief.
If there’s anyone in this world who has completely offended Jordan, it’s definitely
- me.
