I was stunned.
My hand holding the phone was trembling
Thinking back to everything, Jordan had been desperately searching for me.
After we reunited, he promoted me and gave me a raise.
The things he said, the things he did including last night.
It turns out, it was all to repay the debt!

Right, Elena said he hated me at the KTV.
Maybe that was the truth.
Jordan doesn’t like to owe people anything.
From beginning to end, I was just a huge burden in his heart, a creditor.
At that moment, endless sorrow swallowed me.
I didn’t even know how to blame him..
Eight years ago, I was the one who dragged him into an unequal position with me.

He politely remembered it until now.
It would’ve been better if he’d forgotten.
A nameless fire burned in my heart. My fingertips trembled as I sent Jordan a
message.
“Who told you to pay off my debt without asking?”
“Isn’t it good that I paid it off? Now you don’t have to work so many jobs.”
“I don’t need it.”
“Hannah, don’t be stubborn. I should’ve done this a long time ago. I’ve always wanted to repay you for my grandfather’s medical bills.”
His words pierced me again.
“I’ll save up the money and pay you back. From now on, let’s not contact each other outside of work.”
Jordan called me many times after that, but I didn’t want to answer.
I took another day off and locked myself in my room, sleeping like a log.
It felt like I was catching up on all the sleep I’d missed over the years.
The next morning, my mom told me Jordan had been standing downstairs all night.
I took the subway to work.
Jordan gave up his Porsche and rode the subway with me.
In the evening, I went to my KTV side job as usual.

He booked a small room and sat at the door, watching me go in and out.
He was like a moving statue, following me wherever I went.
This repeated for several days.
I finally couldn’t take it anymore and said, “Stop following me.”
“If I don’t follow you, you’ll disappear.”
He counted on his fingers.
“You disappeared to other cities, disappeared into stairwells, disappeared by not answering calls. You make me worry.”
I choked up and said, “I promised to pay you back. I won’t disappear again. There’s still trust between us, right?”
Jordan frowned. “What are you talking about? I don’t need you to pay me back.”
He continued to be the shadow behind me.
Until Friday, when he didn’t show up.
Elena called angrily.
“Jordan hit someone.”
