Chapter 1
This was the wedding I had spent three years begging for, even though I know Ethan’s heart belonged entirely to his
ex–girlfriend, Sophia Reed.
But I always believed that hearts were made of flesh.
That marrying him would surely change his foolings.
What I never expected was that his legendary ex–girlfriend, who was supposedly studying abroad, would suddenly
descend upon my wedding
Ethan halted this wedding of the century and, without warning, put my bridal veil on her in front of everyone.
While everyone stood in confusion, that usually quiet CEO suddenly called out dramatically: “Sophia, I see you. You really
come.”
The crowd erupted in shock while I felt as if struck by lightning. Countless cameras flashed at me rapidly, seemingly trying to expose every bit of my unbearable shame.
An ominous fooling welled up from deep within me.
Mr. Pierce, who rarely smiled, was now beaming as he walked straight toward the crowd.
My heart jumped, and linstinctively grabbed Ethan’s arm as he passed by mo
“Ethan, this is our wedding day. Can you please not go?” My voice was pleading, tears welling up in my eyes,
When it came to Sophia Read, I had always lost.
Every time, he had chosen her, but this time, I wanted him to choose me.
Hearing this, Ethan bent down and whispered in my oar: “Be good now. Sophia’s here, and I must keep my promise.”
After pushing my hand away, Ethan strode quickly toward Sophia.
Iknew then, he had abandoned me again.
The crowd went wild, shouting: “True love prevails in the ond!”
Everyone was condemning my presence, even yelling: “Some people have no self–awareness, insisting on interfering with others‘ relationships. Mr. Pierce’s heart clearly only has room for Sophia Reed,”
Each word hammered into my heart, beating it to a bloody pulp.
Ethan placed my veil on Sophia’s head, and they embraced tourfully, expressing their regrets about not marrying each other.
I watched everything before me coldly – Ethan’s excitement, Sophia’s coy demeanor, and the audience’s applause – taking it all in.
In that moment, looking at Ethan whom I had secretly loved for five years, I suddenly realized how rotten he had become. Everything about him was completely rotten.
Iremembered when he agreed to marry me, he said: “I can marry you, but my heart only belongs to Sophia Reed. Just don’t mind that
Back then, love had clouded my judgment, but now I just wanted to end this absurd game with him immediately. That’s when Ethan turned to me, satisfied, and said: “Grace Mitchell, don’t be angry. I just wanted to make up for some regrets.
As he tried to put the veil back on me, I immediately stepped back, making him grasp at empty air.
Then I shook my head and said: “I won’t stand in the way of your making up for regrets. I’ll let you two be together.” This fool’s game – I didn’t want to participate anymore.”
