Love at the Door Chapter 59

Chapter 59

Melina froze for a few seconds and stood up in a flash

Her voice was somewhat stiff as she said, You are awake. I’ll go to make breakfast.”

Without waiting for Andrew’s response, she quickly left the room

Andrew frowned slightly

Melina usually didn’t hold grudges. She would still greet him with a bright smile no matter how difficult he made things for her

Andrew didn’t really care about how Melina felt, but he only needed her to maintain that calming presence that soothed his weariness

But now, she was avoiding him, and she wasn’t smiling. A wave of inexplicable frustration washed over him

Andrew chuckled coldly when he thought about the incident at the banquet. He hadn’t even made a move yet, and Melina was already throwing a tantrum

However, Melina wasn’t actually throwing a tantrum, as she rarely got upset with people she cared about. She just didn’t know how to face Andrew anymore. There were so many things she couldn’t understand

The atmosphere between them was heavy and silent for the next two days

Usually, it was Melina’s cheerful chatter that filled the air, but now that she had gone quiet, it felt as if the entire house had fallen into stillness

Andrew was busy, and he left early and returned late every day. He was so occupied because Wallace had withdrawn his overt support of him

In a family as large as the Wentworth family, there were plenty of people with ambitions of their own

It was only because Wallace had fully backed Andrew that he could keep a tight grip on the family

Now that Wallace had stepped back, those ambitious people had started to make their moves, and Andrew suddenly found himself with many more things to settle

Andrew understood why Wallace was doing this. It could only be because of Melina

He couldn’t figure out what kind of spell Melina had cast on Wallace, but he refused to be threatened

Andrew had made it clear to Wallace that there would be no compromises after their marriage. He wouldn’t hold back if Wallace continued to push the relationship between him and Melina

Melina knew nothing of this as she continued to care for Andrew with diligence

When Andrew was at the office, she busied herself with housework, cleaning every corner and handling various tasks

In the garden, Melina managed to save most of the orchids. With the extra space, she tilted the soil and planted some cabbage and tomatoes

As Melina went about her chores, her mind was filled with thoughts about her relationship with Andrew

Melina didn’t like how things were now. She preferred straightforwardness

But instead, everything was hidden and unclear, and to make matters worse, there was Linda in the mix

No one had taught Melina how to handle this and told her what to do. She could only figure it out on her

own

Two days later, when Toby came over to change Andrew’s bandages, he was startled by how worn out Melina looked

He couldn’t help but ask, Ms. Crowford, have you been staying up every night watching over Andrew? His small wound on his back is already scabbing over, so it’s not a big deal anymore, and it’s unlikely to get Infected. He can even turn over in his sleep now, so there’s no need to keep such a close watch.”

Toby was mainly worried that If Melina kept this up, something serious might happen to her

Who dedicated themselves this much to caring for someone with just a minor injury on their back? It was not like it was a major wound

Andrew would never notice. If Melina waited for him to feel sorry for her, she’d probably wear herself out before he even realized it

Melina’s eyes brightened, and she smiled. That’s great news. Thank you, Dr. Ludwig.”

She felt relieved knowing Andrew’s wound wouldn’t get infected and that he was out of danger

Instinctively, Melina touched the scar on her lower back

It was from when she was younger and working in the fields. She had fallen onto an exposed steel rod from an electric pole on the mountain, slicing a long gash across her lower back

Because it was out of sight, she didn’t pay much attention to it and continued working under the scorching sun

Two days later, the wound became infected, red, swollen, and festering, and she developed a fever

If Joanne hadn’t noticed Melina wasn’t in school and taken her to the hospital with a high fever, she would have ended up with permanent damage

That’s why Melina had been very nervous when Andrew got injured
