Love at the Door Chapter 82

Chapter 82

Melina waved from a distance and called out, Mr. Henderson! Mrs. Henderson! I’m back.”

Helena, who was in the midst of berating Samuel, snapped at Melina, Why did your rush back? It’s not like we can’t survive without you.”

Melina was used to Helena’s biling tongue and knew the latter meant well, so she didn’t take those words to heart

After tying on her apron, she hurried over to help move some of the stock around.Let me, Mrs. Henderson! I’ll do it. You know you’re not in the best of health. Mr. Henderson hired me so that you could get some proper rest. Since I’m here, your shouldn’t tire yourself out. Just sit down and relax.”

Now, now. Don’t think you’ll get anything from me just because you’re a sweet talker, Helena said before stuffing a hardboiled egg into Melina’s pocket. I’m too full, so. you can have this. You’ll work harder on a full stomach.”

This had always been Helena’s style. Even when she gave Melina some fish, she insisted on claiming that the fish wasn’t worth selling anymore

Eggs were one of Melina’s favorites. She happily declared, Thank you, Mrs. Henderson. You’re the best!”

Helena squirmed in response to her reaction, and Samuel had to hide his chuckle ast he watched them..

Although working at the supermarket was tough, Melina was genuinely happy working there. After getting the morning’s work done, she got ready to make the deliveries at noon, just like she always did. That was her last task before clocking off for the day

However, when she saw an address in District 1 on the list, her smile drooped

What was Andrew up to this time? She didn’t want to go over there right nowshe didn’t know how to face him. Nevertheless, thinking of Andrew’s injury, she decided to head over anyway. After all, she needed to get her things from Oakread too

Andrew hadn’t left the house at all. He spent the morning on his computer, going through the information he received about Melina’s life

Her mother died when she was five, and her father went missing. The villagers got in

touch with her maternal parents, but they refused to help out by taking her in, saying that she would just be a burden. One of her aunts had gotten married to someone in the neighboring town too, but that aunt refused to help as well

No one wanted Melina

With no other choice, the villagers all chipped in to help her a bit, and ever since she was five, she started living on her own

Even though the villagers helped out from time to time, someone that young still had to work very hard just to survive. Finally, when Melina turned eight, she met Joe who helped her receive proper schooling

The information clearly stated everything about Melina’s life, including how a five- yearold managed to survive alone until adulthood. It also had a detailed explanation of Melina and Wallace’s unexpected acquaintanceship

Having read through everything, Andrew had even more doubts. How could

someone who lived a life of suffering maintain such a cheery smile? She hasn’t

herself into her studies and was grateful to everyone who helped her. Why she vengeful and upset about all the hardships she had to go through

Could someone like that truly exist

If not for the fact that he had personally sent his people to look into Melina, Andrew never would’ve believed the information he received about her, not if anyone else told him about it. And now, he started to trust Melina somewhatshe’d earned half

of his trust

Wallace would’ve been moved to tears if he knew about the change in Andrew’s attitude. Half of Andrew’s trust might not seem like much, but that was the same amount of trust Wallace got too

After making the rest of the deliveries, Melina arrived at District 1. She approached the entrance of the villa before letting out a sigh. She always felt a great deal of pressure whenever she had to interact with Andrew. He was too unpredictable, and it made her feel unsettled
