Christina’s smile froze for a moment, but she quickly composed herself and softened her tone to coax him, “Ben, it’s me. Christina. Don’t you remember me? I even bought you this cake. Come on, give it a try.”
In the past, she had used treats to win over
Ben and turned him into her litter follower.
So, she did not expect it to work this time.
He threw the cake and other items she
handed him straight to the ground. As if it was not enough, he even stomped on them.
“You‘ re a bad woman! I hate you! It’s all your fault that Mom doesn’t love me anymore!” he yelled.

His tone was so loud that Eric came over. When he saw Christina, disgust filled his face.
“What are you doing here?” he asked coldly. “Are you following me?”
“No, it’s just a coincidence,” Christina replied. She bit her lower lip as she looked at him timidly.
“I know you hate me for what I did back then, but I acted that way because I loved you,” she pleaded as tears welled up in her
eyes.
“I’ve paid the price too, you know. I lost my child, my career is in ruins. Can’t you forgive me?” she pleaded.
Her tear–streaked face and pitiful demeanor were once her most effective tools, but this

time her act did not move him.
He frowned and said with an icy tone,
“You‘ re nothing to me. Get lost. As far away
as possible.”
Christina took a deep breath and kept convincing herself to keep up the act. Her current life around the gang leader was filled with danger. It was better for her to win Eric
back.
However, she failed to consider one crucial detail, her every move was being monitored by the gang leader‘ s minion.
When she was chatting with Eric in what seemed to be a happy interaction, the
minions filmed their interaction and sent the
video to the gang leader.

Enraged at the thought of her betrayal, the
gang leader stormed into the café with a group of his minions.
Before Eric could react, a punch landed
squarely on his face and knocked him to the floor.
Christina, who was standing at the side, screamed in terror.
Seeing his father being attacked, Ben dropped his cake and rushed to shield him. He spread his hands wide in an attempt to block their punches.
The gang leader sneered, called him a “little brat,” and signaled his men to move him
aside.
They grabbed Been and set him down a few

steps away.
Blow after blow landed on Eric’s body. The dull sounds of impact were interspersed with the sickening crack of breaking bones. Eric was way smaller than the gang leader’s
massive body, so it was impossible for him to fight back.
The violent scene only ended when Richard, drawn by the commotion, rushed in. With a calm and commanding voice, Richard asked, “Do me a favor, stop this.”
The gang leader hesitated but eventually waved for his men to step back. However, before leaving, he delivered one final kick to
Eric.
As for Christina, who was trembling

uncontrollably in fear, the gang leader didn’t intend to let her off easily. It was a family matter so, he grabbed her by the hair and dragged her out of the cafe.
Eric braced himself against the ground and staggered to his feet. Blood was flowing from the gash on his forehead.
His vision blurred, but he forced himself to meet Richard’s gaze.
“Are you happy now?” he sneered weakly. “Wanda doesn’t want me anymore. This is your chance to take my place.”
Even in his sorry state, he refused to show any vulnerability in front of his rival.
However, before he could say anything more,
he fainted.

Eric sighed and shook his head. Without hesitation, he called for an ambulance and brought Eric to the hospital. He also took Ben along as well.
Ben glared at Richard. He did not like the man who took his mother away. His gaze shifted to the Black Forest cake that had been thrown to the ground because of the fight
with heartache.
It was the cake his mom had bought for him and he had only taken a few tiny bites.
As the ambulance sped toward the hospital, Ben clung tightly to his unconscious father’s hand and his eyes never left Richard as he looked at him warily.
