Chapter 6 I Consider You a Friend

Frederic didn’t let go of my waist. He extended his other hand and said, “Hello, Mr. Mendez. I’m Kristine’s boyfriend.”
My dad was visibly excited as he shook Frederic’s hand.
We all headed back home.
My mom grabbed my arm and said, “Good girl, I knew you wouldn’t act impulsively. Mr. Haywood is going to cooperate with us, right?”
I sighed, “Mom, the company’s been hit hard by the Freguson family breaking their contract. Our cash flow has been
interrupted. Do you expect Frederic to be our charity and bail us out?”
“Of course, he can!” my mom said dismissively. “You don’t understand those things. I’ll have your dad personally talk to Mr. Haywood.”
Worried that she wouldn’t listen, I decided to talk to my dad first.
I even showed him my company, letting him know I was capable of handling business matters.
My dad was persuaded.

I moved quickly to try to recover the losses from the Freguson family’s project.
The shareholders weren’t happy about it.
That was when Frederic showed up with his team, saying he wanted to discuss a partnership.
I hurriedly led them into the office, only to be immediately pulled into Frederic’s embrace.
Out of breath, I pushed him away. “You don’t have to do this for me…”
Before I could finish, he interrupted with a light laugh, “It’s for you, but not just for you.
“The decision to work with you was made long before you and Kendrick broke off your engagement.”
He held me close, his voice soft. “Kristine, you should trust your, father’s company. Consider my offer. If there’s a shortcut, why not take it? You will be a fool not to cooperate with me.”
“You’re the fool,” I teased, lightly punching his chest with a smile.
It had been a month since I’d been dealing with company matters.
The Freguson family had stopped causing trouble, and I thought they had let it go.
Chapter 61 Consider You a Friend
That day, after dinner with Frederic, we were about to get in the car when suddenly a car sped towards us.
Kendrick stepped out, looking disheveled, his eyes bloodshot.
He looked at Frederic holding my hand, his forehead veins bulging. “Kristine, don’t tell me you’re with Frederic now!”
I replied coolly, “Why does it matter who I’m with?”
“You’re my fiancée!” he yelled.
Frederic covered my ears and glared at Kendrick. “She already canceled the engagement with you. Kristine is my girlfriend now.”
Kendrick’s eyes turned red with anger. He lunged at Frederic, grabbing his collar. “I considered you my best friend, and you went behind my back to steal my girlfriend?”
Frederic shoved him aside, brushing off his clothes as if they were covered in dirt.
He gave Kendrick a cold look. “If it hadn’t been for Kristine, do you think I’d have bothered being your friend?”
He grabbed my hand and started walking away.
Kendrick was stopped by his bodyguards, shouting after us,
“Kristine, do you really think someone like him will be serious about you?”
Chapter & Consider You a Friend
In the car, I couldn’t help but ask Frederic, “Have we met before?”
I remembered I’d known Frederic through Kendrick.
Frederic’s ears turned pink. “I saw you shortly after I arrived in Aetheria, but you probably didn’t notice me.”
That didn’t make sense.
I instinctively wanted to argue.
Frederic had an impressive appearance and charisma. If I had met him, there was no way I wouldn’t remember.
But after searching my memories, I found no trace of him.
“We’re here,” he said.
I opened the car door and stepped out.
As I was about to leave, Frederic called out to me.
Turning around, I saw him kneeling on one knee, holding a velvet box with a diamond ring inside.
“Kristine, I wanted to propose in a grand way, but after seeing Kendrick today… I couldn’t wait any longer.

“Please marry me. I’ll spend the rest of my life with you.”
His eyes seemed to pull me in, and I found myself drawn to him.
Unable to resist, I nodded softly.
Frederic overjoyed, slid the ring onto my finger, then pulled me into his arms, holding me so tightly that it felt like he wanted to merge our souls.

Chapter 7 How Can I Eam Your Forgiveness
Kendrick had insisted that I come to meet his friends.
The room was thick with smoke, and I felt uncomfortable the moment I stepped inside.
But he wouldn’t let me leave.
After just a couple of minutes, I couldn’t hold it in any longer and vomited.
His face turned sour. “Ugh, women are so delicate. Can’t even handle a little smoke.”
His friends laughed at me, saying, “Kristine’s really embarrassing, Kendrick.”
I ended up vomiting outside the room, dizzy and weak. Someone took me to a nearby pharmacy, where I took some medicine and started feeling better.
“So…” I said, slowly piecing things together. “He’s the one who helped me?”
“Yep.” Ophelia nodded.
I was touched but also a little embarrassed.
It seemed Frederic had witnessed all my humiliating moments.
Just then, Kendrick’s voice cut through the air.
