I’d been given up on again, even when I wasn’t
in the wrong. It had always been this way, and it
would always be this way. I felt nothing,
absolutely nothing. That small bit of family love
had long been snuffed out by all the times
they’d thrown me away.

I sat down, twirling a glass on the coffee table.
“I can’t leave, Mr. Miller, Ms. Miller. This is my
house.”
“You added stress to Tiffany’s birthday and
then you tried to frame her. You’re not my
daughter, you don’t belong here. This is
Tiffany’s house!” Mom said, trying to hurt me
with her words.
“Is that so? Heh!” I laughed, wondering if she
would feel the same later on.
The doorbell rang. Dad looked up, his face
lighting up, and he practically ran to the door.
Mom pulled Tiffany with her, fixing their clothes
and hair, waiting for whoever was at the door to
come in.
“Sarah, don’t say anything stupid. Or you’ll be
sorry,” Mom warned, her eyes narrowed.
I looked up as the group of people walked in.

Tonight, I had invited every single fish in
Tiffany’s pond. I had all the details about
Tiffany, thanks to money. Turns out money can do pretty much anything. Those guys, as
expected, went wild once they realized that they had been nothing but one of Tiffany’s many “catches.”
Every single one felt like they had a giant sign over their heads, saying “Welcome to Tiffany’s Garden.”
They started arguing, throwing Tiffany’s past affairs into the open.
The young kids really did know how to play.
Dad slapped Tiffany a couple of times. Other
than crying, Tiffany didn’t say a word. Mom
shielded Tiffany, saying, “Don’t hit her, don’t hit

her. My Tiffany is a well–behaved girl. This must
be a misunderstanding….
“Honey, they must have gotten the wrong
person. They probably mistook Sarah for
Tiffany. Sarah’s always been jealous of
Tiffany…
وو
I shook my head. Her love for her precious little
girl was something else.
Dad pushed Mom away and slapped Tiffany a
few more times. This was probably the first time the “princess” had been hit.
She lost her haughty attitude, her face tear-
stained and red.
The guys left quickly. The whole scene was over
before I knew it.
“Are you happy now?” Dad asked, calmly. He
looked at me, his eyes cold.
Tooked at me, mis eyes cold.
Happy? Not even close! The main act was just
about to start.
I didn’t respond, just shot Dad a look.
The doorbell rang again. The person I’d been waiting for was finally here. All my anger and pain would end tonight.
My aunt came in, holding a big cake and a
beautiful bouquet of flowers. Mom, Dad, and
Tiffany were shocked, They didn’t expect my
aunt. My aunt made it clear she did not like the
Millers.
The Millers had some money. But my aunt had
more. Even when the Millers were going
bankrupt, my aunt still had more. They could
never afford to cross my aunt.
“Aunt, what brings you here? Thank you for
coming for Tiffany’s birthday!” Mom said with a

flowers. Dad also greeted her with a huge fake smile. Even Tiffany stepped up to greet her.
I just stood there, silent.
My aunt ignored them, waving me over. She
handed me the cake and flowers. “Sarah, I’m
sorry I’m late. Happy birthday, honey!” She
smiled, her red lips looking gorgeous.
Mom and Dad’s smiles vanished.
Mom turned and stared at me. “Sarah, it’s your
birthday? Why didn’t you say anything? You’re a
child…”
Dad’s face turned red, and Tiffany stared at me
with hatred.
