Chapter 6
Two days after Valerie left, Simon finally came home.
He had spent two days coaxing Abigail, leaving him utterly exhausted.
“Valerie, make me some hangover soup,” he said as he removed his coat, rubbed his temples, and collapsed onto the couch.
After waiting for a long time, he noticed the house was eerily silent.
Fighting off his drowsiness, he searched. the house for her, but there was no sign of
anyone.
A strange feeling crept over him, as if something irreplaceable was slipping away..
“Where could she have gone at this hour?” he muttered, pulling out his phone to call Valerie.
As he passed the study, he glanced inside- and his sleepiness vanished instantly.

The bookshelf, once full, was now
completely empty.
Simon froze, his face paling.
He rushed to the bedroom, the bathroom, and the photo wall in the study had all disappeared.
Everything connected to her was gone.
For a moment, he couldn’t believe his
eyes.
Hands trembling, he tried calling her number over and over again, but not a single call went through.
It was only at that moment that he realized
the truth.
His wife was really gone.
Simon collapsed onto the sofa, staring blankly ahead. When he turned his head, something caught his eye.
On the coffee table lay a divorce agreement and a single note.

Simon stared at the items on the coffee table for a long time before finally opening them.
The divorce agreement was already signed.
On the small note, there was only a single
sentence.
[Simon, loving someone is too exhausting, so I’ve chosen to let go.]
He fixated on that note for what felt like an
eternity.
Then, in a sudden burst of anger, he tore both the notes and the divorce papers to shreds, sweeping everything off the coffee table in a storm of rage.
He refused to believe Valerie would leave
so decisively.
Simon mobilized every connection he had in the city to search for her. But all he found was that she had canceled every
piece of her identity. Even the flight Valerie took abroad had been booked with a

temporary ID, and she had reserved tickets
for seven or eight different countries to obscure her trail.
Furious and frustrated, Simon erupted, driving everyone out of his office.
Minutes later, Mateo cautiously reentered, holding a medical report.
“Although we couldn’t find Madam’s whereabouts, I found this at the hospital.”
Simon froze when he saw it.
A pregnancy report.
“Two months along.. She never told me,” he murmured, his voice hollow.
A flicker of hope seemed to ignite in his dark eyes. “And the child?”
Mateo sighed deeply. “On the day Madam discovered she was pregnant, she
immediately scheduled an abortion.”
Simon’s eyes dimmed, the last trace of hope extinguished.

Suddenly, he remembered the day of the concert–how pale she looked, how tightly she had wrapped herself in layers of clothing.
It turned out Valerie had undergone abortion that very day.
“Valerie…” His entire body tensed as he slumped into his chair, his throat constricting painfully.
Mateo hesitated before handing him another set of printed documents. “And there’s one more thing… It seems Miss Abigail had been in contact with Madam.”
Meanwhile, at the countryside villa, Abigail had just finished her bath when Simon stormed in, his face thunderous.
“Simon, did you miss me?”
She approached him coquettishly, but
Simon shoved her aside with
overwhelming force.
“Abigail, who gave you permission to

secretly contact Valerie?” he thundered. His voice was icy, his expression darker than the night, and a menacing aura
radiated from him.
Abigail had never seen him like this before. For the first time, fear washed over her, rendering her speechless.
She could only stammer, trying to explain, “Simon, please, let me explain! I love you so much I did it all so we could be
together.”
“In a relationship, the one who isn’t loved. is the third party. I just wanted to stand by your side openly. What did I do wrong?”
Tears streamed down her face, and she looked heartbreakingly pitiful.
In the past, such a scene would have softened Simon‘ s heart. But this time, he was unmoved, his expression hardening
further.
“From the beginning,” he growled, “I warned you: you could throw tantrums and

cause trouble in front of me, but you must never get involved Valerie. Which part of hat didn’t you understand?”
He leaned down, gripping her jaw tightly, his words cold and biting. “You‘ ve crossed the line, Abigail.”
As their eyes met, Abigail trembled uncontrollably.
She had grown accustomed to his tenderness, forgetting his ruthless nature- the part of him that had led the Lewis family‘ s empire since his teens. How
could such a man be swayed by mere
infatuation?
Yet she couldn’t accept it.
After everything she had schemed and fought for, how could it all slip away so easily?
Swallowing her pride, she softened her tone and lowered her stance further.
