Chapter 7
Seeing Simon’s silence, Abigail was overjoyed and grew bolder.
Simon sneered coldly, grabbing her fingers.
The next second, he flung her aside with force, causing her to fall heavily to the ground. His sharp gaze bore into her.
“Pack your things and get out of this house. as soon as possible,” he commanded icily.
Abigail‘ s eyes reddened, and her voice. trembled incoherently. “No, Simon! I‘ m pregnant!”
This was her last bargaining chip. But to her shock, Simon didn’t react as she had hoped. Instead, he smirked, his expression. mocking.
“Pregnant? Then get rid of it as soon as possible.”
“Simon, this is your child–your flesh and blood! How could you…”

“So what? It’s just a bastard child.”
Those words plunged Abigail into an icy abyss.
“No! No!” She nearly went hysterical, screaming as if losing her mind.
Mateo, understanding the situation, gestured to the door.
A few bodyguards entered, grabbing the disheveled Abigail and dragging her out.
Two hours later, Mateo called. “President Lewis, Abigail‘ s abortion procedure is complete.”
Simon hummed lightly in acknowledgment and ended the call.
Sitting in his car, he turned the pregnancy report over and over in his hands, unable to pull himself out of his thoughts.
“I’m sorry, Valerie,” he murmured, his voice thick with regret.
“I was a fool… It’s all my fault. I hurt you

so deeply. Where have you gone?”
Tears began to fall, smudging the edges of the report.
He leaned forward, burying his face in his hands, overwhelmed by pain and self- reproach.
He didn’t know how much time had passed when he heard a knocking on the car window. His heart leaped with hope.
“Valerie…”
But when he looked up, it was the face of the community security guard that greeted
him.
Confused, Simon rolled down the window.
The guard pointed to a trash bag by his
side.
“Mr. Lewis, this trash bag contains photos of you and your wife. Could you check if they were thrown out by mistake?”
Hearing this, Simon immediately got out of

the car to examine it.
The bag was filled with memories–photos from the wall in the study, trinkets that had vanished from the shelves, and handmade items Valerie had crafted for him.
Simon picked up one of the photographs, his fingers trembling uncontrollably.
He could no longer suppress his emotions.
Clutching the items to his chest, he broke down in sobs.
Through his tears, he murmured, “Valerie, have you truly abandoned me?”
“I’ve dealt with Abigail. Won’t you come back? Please… come back.”
But this regret of his, she would never see. Nor would she want to.
Meanwhile, I had already begun a new chapter in my life, working at a museum in
France.

Before marrying Simon, I was a curator. I had my own dreams and aspirations, and I thrived in my field.
But all of that was crushed after marriage, erased by a single sentence from Simon.
“The wife of the Lewis family doesn’t need to show her face in public.”
So, I quit my job and confined myself to a cage of his making.
Thankfully, this time, I had broken free.
The museum had just received a shipment of new exhibits, and I was busy cataloging, arranging, and designing the displays. By midday, I was drenched in sweat from the
hard work.
Suddenly, a bottle of water appeared in front of me.
“Valerie, take a break and have some water. You’ve been working all day,” a calm, familiar voice said.
I turned to see Brian smiling warmly at me,

his eyes bright and clear.
Caught off guard, I averted my gaze, feeling flustered under his steady stare.
Sensing my discomfort, Brian didn‘ t push. Instead, he gently ruffled my hair.
“Come on, let me treat you to dinner.”
Over dinner, Brian brought up Simon. several times, pretending it was unintentional.
