Crimes Without Evidence Ch 9

Crimes Without Evidence Ch 9

After leaving the police station, I went to the hospital to see Quint.

He was conscious, but had become a human wreck. When he saw me, he writhed violently like a maggot.

I smiled at him.

“Live well, Professor. You will forever dwell in the depths of hell, eternally tormented.”

Holt was dead. I watched him slit his own throat right in front of me.

“Darling, I love you, and I love

Delia. This was my mission, and now I’ve completed it.”

With those words and a gentle smile, he unhesitatingly plunged the knife into his neck.

His body was cremated by the authorities.

I carried the urns containing Holt’s and my sister’s ashes to the seaside.

The azure ocean, how beautiful it was. Since childhood, Delia had always loved the sea. She used to say that when she grew up, she’d make sure I took her to the beach to play in the sand and catch crabs.

“Sister, you didn’t lie. It really does feel nice to walk barefoot on the sand.”

Before my eyes appeared a little girl, skipping and jumping. She was so young, so lively, so adorable.

My eyes clouded with tears, and I couldn’t help but reach out to touch her.

The girl vanished.

Only her voice calling “Sister” lingered, echoing in my ears. I’m crying as I smile, tears falling onto the crystal-clear necklace.

“Darling, amethyst really suits you.”

Holt smiles as he puts the necklace around my neck.

I embrace him and lean in to kiss his lips.

I stand up, taking one last look at the endless ocean.

I scatter my sister’s and husband’s ashes into the water.

“Delia, honey, I’m coming.”

As the waves crash, I walk step by step towards the sea.

Just as the water is about to engulf my neck,

I see a figure tumbling in the water.

I hesitate for a moment, then rush over to save her.

It’s an elderly woman, who keeps sobbing into her hands after I rescue her.

I watch her silently, waiting for her story.

“My daughter was tortured to death by some scumbags.”

“Those animals come from powerful families. I’m just an old woman, I can’t win against them in court.”

“The only way I can answer to my daughter now is by dying.”

I’m stunned, my mind exploding like thunder.

Everyone has their own mission in life.

“Why did he kill people?”

“All…” “Yes, heaven won’t let me die for a reason.”

“I am a demon from the eighteenth level of hell.”

“I should throw all the sinners of this world into hell, to let them suffer for eternity.” I laughed, beaming with joy.

This was the mission Holt had spoken of.

“Grandma, I’ll avenge your daughter for you.”
