Chase took the fastest flight to Paris. Standing in the airport, he felt lost and anxious. This wasn’t his territory; he was completely in the dark. Where could he find Scarlett? Where was she? He’d already contacted friends for help, but hadn’t received a reply. He checked into a hotel. The waiting was agonizing; he couldn’t bear it.
Chase pulled out his phone, leaving messages on all of Scarlett’s social media accounts. They were all deactivated, even her shopping and reading apps. She was erasing herself from his world completely!
His heart ached, his throat constricted.
He walked to the window, gazing at the glittering lights of Paris. He lit one cigarette after another, the smoke a hazy veil around his grief. Scarlett didn’t want him or his love anymore. He murmured, “Scarlett… I love you, I didn’t even know I loved you this much! Come back, please, come back to me.”
He closed his eyes in pain, biting his lip until it bled.
His phone rang. A jolt of hope surged through him. Perhaps it was news about Scarlett!
He answered frantically, “Hello…”
“You bastard!” The roar of his grandfather, Vincent Miller, filled his ear.“Have you lost your mind?! This scandal…”
Chase regained his usual composure.“I’m sorry.”
Vincent raged, “That’s it? The company’s stock has plummeted!”
Chase remained silent, taking another drag of his cigarette. His stern face, shrouded in smoke, looked melancholic and defeated. This was his just punishment. He owed Scarlett. Vincent said grimly, “Hold a press conference immediately. Clear up your relationship with Anya__ Louis; tell everyone that you weren’t involved in that incident!”
Chase rubbed his temples.“The company already issued a statement.”
Vincent shouted, “No one believes it without you appearing! Everyone thinks you’ve been arrested!”
get back.”
Chase replied, “I’m in Paris now. I’ll deal with it when I Vincent sputtered, “Come back now and fix this! Look at the stock market; the company is losing money by the second because of you!”
Chase wanted to stay here and find Scarlett.“I’ll come back after I’ve done what I have to do. I’ll make up for the losses.”
Vincent calmed down somewhat.“Make up for it? How much money do you have? Don’t waste time! I don’t care what you’re doing, you must prioritize the company’s interests. Otherwise, the shareholders and even your family will turn against you; I can’t stop them from reducing your shares and profits.”
Chase said indifferently, “I’ll record a clarification video first; we’ll see how it goes.” Vincent sighed in disappointment.“I gave you the company. It seems you’re still too immature.“、 Chase pursed his lips, his gaze downcast. The company’s well–being affected his family,

shareholders, and employees; he couldn’t be reckless. But right now, he only wanted to find Scarlett, win her back, and propose.
He recorded a clarification video and posted it online. He stated that he wasn’t involved in Anya and Uri’s crimes, hadn’t been arrested, and was currently in Paris.
But the internet didn’t buy it; they said he’d fled to France to escape the consequences. He’d used these keyboard warriors countless times to promote his artists, and now he was facing the backlash.
He decided not to argue, opting to walk around. Paris was a shopping paradise; Scarlett loved shopping; maybe he’d bump into her.
The streets were crowded, bustling with life. But there was no sign of Scarlett. Standing on the street, feeling dejected and heartbroken, Chase saw the news playing on a large shop display.
“World’s Richest Heir to Marry Daughter of World’s Tenth Largest Conglomerate; Powerful Alliance Sends Stock Prices Soaring.”
A bitter smile touched Chase’s lips. Miller Corp’s stock had plummeted because of him. His grandfather called again.“I received an invitation from the CEO of Taylor Group for his daughter’s wedding in France. Hold an online press conference tomorrow and say you’re representing me at the wedding of the world’s richest heir and the Taylor Group heiress. It’s gonna tell everyone you didn’t escape.
Chase replied listlessly, “Okay.”
He knew the riches heir–twenty–eight, French nobility with top–tier education, a rising star among young global leaders. But who was the Taylor Group heiress?
