Vanessa deliberately stood up and the coffee spilled all over her.
“Ah!”
“What’s wrong? What’s wrong?”
Jeremy hurriedly jumped down from the second floor. Luckily, the floor wasn’t too high.
“Jeremy, Gracie threw coffee on me! Do I make her dislike me this much?”
“I didn’t throw coffee on you.”
This was my territory and I wasn’t going to tolerate Vanessa.
Jeremy’s face darkened, but he tried to control his anger.
He still believed Vanessa.
“Gracie, everything is my fault. It has nothing to do with Vanessa. She’s pregnant and came all the way here
to find you. Even if she hasn’t done anything remarkable, she’s gone through hardship. Can’t you be a little more understanding?”
“Did I ask her to find me? Did I ask you all to come here?”
It was clearly them who insisted on disturbing my life, yet now they were turning the blame on me. How could there be such shameless people?
Jeremy was at a loss for words.
Indeed, in the past year since the divorce, I had never reached out to him, nor had I asked them to come find me. “Gracie, I never knew that over this year, you’ve become so sharp and harsh, speaking so aggressively.” Jeremy picked up Vanessa and carried her to the hospital, while I was left to clean up the mess they had left
behind.
However, guests came to spend money, so I didn’t need to argue over such things.
They would leave once they grew tired of staying.
In the following days, Jeremy and Vanessa became much quieter.
Vanessa stayed in the room to rest during her pregnancy, while Jeremy never left her side, always attending to her needs. He’d call the front desk for anything they needed, asking them to run errands.
That evening, I invited a live singer to liven up the courtyard.
The guests sipped on drinks and waved their glow sticks, singing along to one song after another. The

atmosphere gradually built up and the guests were in high spirits.
At that moment, I also changed into a red dress and stood among the crowd, beginning to dance.
I moved gracefully to the rhythm of the drums.
If this were before, I would have been too shy to show myself in front of others, preferring to stay hidden in the
corner.
But in the year I’d spent in this city, I’d met many people from different places. They were open–minded, cheerful
and confident. Under their influence, I gradually rediscovered myself.
Now, I was passionate and free, swinging my arms with ease.
I didn’t know when Jeremy appeared in the crowd, but he looked surprised, mixed with a hint of admiration.
When he saw everyone applauding for me, I accepted the flowers from a gentleman and I could sense a tinge of jealousy in Jeremy’s eyes.
“Gracie, you look so beautiful tonight. I almost didn’t recognize you.”
Jeremy followed me into the room.
I continued removing my makeup, my words distant and cold, “Mr. Bitt, your guest room is upstairs.”
“Gracie, can we go back to how we were before? Please don’t be so cold to me.”
Cold to him?
Had Jeremy forgotten that he had been indifferent to me more than once?
I couldn’t even remember when it became a luxury to have a meal with him. Even when we were together, he
would ignore me.
There were countless times when I called him, asking him to come home for dinner, only to be told that he
needed to make reservations.
The company needed him, his colleagues needed him and I was the only one who didn’t.
After Vanessa appeared, it became even more rare to see him.
He used to be so indifferent to me, but now he turned it around, blaming me for being cold.
“Jeremy, we have no relationship at all. You are just my tenant. Please don’t cross the line.”
“Guest? Just a guest?”
Jeremy rushed towards me like crazy. He hugged me and started kissing me, touching me all over.
“Let me go, Jeremy!”
“You are my wife, this is your duty.”
