When the school bully learned that I
didn’t like him, he went crazy
Chapter 1
My little sister’s diary got busted–the one
where she’s crushing on the school’s bad boy.
In front of everyone, she claimed it was mine.
The whole place erupted in laughter. So, right
there in front of him, I admitted it was true.
- 1.
I walked into homeroom, and something felt off
right away.
A bunch of people were huddled in the back of
the classroom, all loud and chattering about
something.
Then, someone–I don’t know who–spotted me
<
at the door and shouted, “Hey, it’s Sarah!”
Instantly, everyone turned around, staring right
at me.
I frowned. “What’s going on?”
Lily pushed through the crowd, looking all
panicked, and grabbed my arm.
“Sis, you’re finally here. Your diary…”
I pulled my arm away, “My diary? What about
it?”
She glanced over at the bulletin board, looking
all nervous.
I followed her gaze. A few sheets of paper were
taped up there, flapping around in the breeze
coming from the door.
Someone snickered. “I didn’t think someone like

Sarah would be into Jake.”

“Yeah, she always seemed like such a goodie-
two–shoes.”
“You know, the quiet ones are always the
wildest behind closed doors.”
I didn’t even flinch at all the gossip. Lily,
though, looked like she was about to cry. She
shouted at them, “Shut up, okay? So what if
she likes someone? It’s not a crime!”
“I’m telling the teacher if you don’t stop!”
After that outburst, she ripped the papers off
the board and shoved them at me, looking all
pale.
“Here, Sis. Don’t worry about it, okay?”
I didn’t take them. I just stared down at the
wrinkled pages. The handwriting looked eerily

wrinkled pages. The handwriting looked eerily
like mine, all fancy and loopy. It was filled with
cheesy love poems, every line overflowing with
emotion. And, every single one of them started
with, “To: Jake.”
Jake? So corny.
“Sis…”
Lily’s soft voice snapped me back to reality. I
looked at her, my face pretty blank.
“Is this some kind of joke?” I asked.
Lily’s eyes widened, and a tear slipped down
her cheek.
“Sis… I know you’re mad, but this wasn’t my
fault, I swear…” she stammered, like she’d been
wronged.
I stayed stone–faced. “Whose diary is it really?
く
Who’s got a thing for Jake? You know the
answer.”
Her face froze for a split second. She probably
didn’t expect me to react like this. I mean, I’m
usually the one who takes it, never fights back.
One of Lily’s friends, probably feeling bad for
her, stepped in front. “Sarah, get over it. Lily
didn’t post your diary.”
“And she stuck up for you too! You’re being
such a jerk.”
“Yeah, you gonna deny you like Jake?”
Everyone’s eyes turned back to me, looking for
answers.
“Did you guys see Sarah’s face? So mean!”
“I always thought she was jealous of Lily. Guess she finally snapped.”

“Are they even twins? Lily’s so gorgeous, she’s nothing like Sarah.”
The insults stung like icy rain, and suddenly I was back in that isolated place I’d been in four years ago. Like I was drowning all over again, the cold water going over my head, choking me.
Then, a loud bang from the front of the classroom made me flinch.
I looked over, confused. It was Jake, the other
half of this drama. He was standing by the
door, hands in his pockets, looking ready to blow a fuse.
He kicked a desk again, sending it skittering.
“Can you all shut the hell up?”
The entire class went silent.
I looked back at Lily’s tear–stained face. The
room was eerily quiet. That’s when I said it,
<
“Yeah, it’s my diary. I like Jake.”
