Chapter 14
“Hugo….” Olive said, looking at Evalina lying unconscious. “I think she still has feelings for you. Maybe we should just end things. Your family doesn’t approve of our marriage anyway. I’ll find a way to… take care of the baby…”
What are you talking about?” Hugo quickly interrupted, turning to look at Evalina. “Even after three years of marriage, we’ve always been distant, no real feelings. We wouldn’t have lasted even without this. Don’t blame yourself.”
“Really?” Olive’s eyes flickered with uncertainty.
Years ago, the Hayes family had paid her to leave Hugo. She was young and thought the money was a lot. And back then, Hugo wasn’t as prominent as his brother. So she just agreed and left the country.
But in just three years, Hugo had become the main heir and the top executive at Hayes Group, making him the dream man of every woman in Havenbay.
When Olive returned and found out about Hugo’s success, she was filled with regret. But she was lucky–Hugo still had feelings for her.
Now, Evalina was a major obstacle. Even though Hugo said there was no love between them, the fact that Evalina was his wife for three years troubled Olive. She was determined to get Evalina out of Hugo’s life.
Hugo glanced at Evalina and said softly, “Let her recover first.”
The doctor looked at Olive next to Hugo. At first, he figured Hugo was Evalina’s husband, but seeing Olive there made him think twice. He thought he might be wrong, so he kept his mouth shut.
Olive smiled as Hugo pulled up to her house. “It’s getting late. You should stay the night,” she said, hoping to spend more time with him.
Hugo shook his head. “Nah, I’m good. Did you put on some new cologne?” He felt a bit weird as Olive got closer. He was sa used to Evalina’s soft scent from the past three years that Olive’s stronger perfume felt off.
“Yeah, I did. Is it too much?” Olive asked, a bit worried. She’d bought the expensive perfume to impress him.
“It’s not bad.” Hugo replied. “It’s just, with you being pregnant and all, maybe it’s better to take it easy on the perfume. You need your rest anyway. Take care of yourself and the baby.” He gave her a gentle pat on the head and left without another word
“Damn it Olive sighed and patted her belly. Pregnancy had its limits, and she couldn’t do half the things she used to. If it weren’t for the baby, she’d have had Hugo eating out of the palm of her hand by now.
But she took comfort in the fact that he was looking out for her, even if it was in his own way. With that thought, she headed inside to get some rest, feeling a bit more at ease,
Meanwhile. Evalina slowly regained consciousness, unsure of how much time had passed.
You can’t delay this D&C procedure any longer. You need someone to sign the consent form, or your health will be at serious risk. Don’t you want to have the chance to get pregnant again?” the doctor warned sternly.

Chapter 14
Evalina took a deep breath. “I’ll find someone to sign it.”

With no other options, she picked up her phone and texted Walden. [Hey, Walden, I really need your help with this. Could you please come and see me?]
The next morning, Walden arrived at the hospital carly. “Evalina, what’s going on? Why didn’t you tell me you were this sick?”
“You’re here, Walden.” Evalina managed a weak smile.
