Before I could say anything, Hunter chuckled.
“The real deal is back, now you are a worthless
copy.”
Jack saw him, and his face twisted.
He looked at me, “When did you start seeing
each other?”
“None of your business.”
I held out my hand. “The divorce papers,
please.”
Jack smiled. “Chloe, I am sorry.”
“I looked down on you because of the rumors,
and you kept your head down and I did not
know-.”
“Did not know what?”

That I drink and I have power now? That you
wanted somebody that did not want you?”
“We have a deal, Jack, you are a grown man.”
Jack’s face was full of hurt.
I took the papers and left.
Sierra came to my office too.
She yelled at me for cheating, and for being with Hunter.
I stood up, grabbed her neck, and brought my cigarette close to her face.

I let go, and watched her run away.
I called security, “Do not let her in again.”

I looked at him.
“I had my friends from overseas check some
things. The choice is yours.”

When summer came back, the Crawford–Reed
project had ended.

I used the information from Hunter to send Jack
and Sierra to the headlines.
They were sent to rehab. Jack’s company was
falling, and I took most of his projects.
“They will be gone for a while.”
Sam was typing fast. “Going overseas to study?
So they can party every day?”
They were all training.
Hunter was playing. After the word “Victory,” he
pushed the keyboard away.
“Training is over.”
He grabbed my hand, “Let’s go on a date.”
Sam yelled, “The finals are next week.”
Hunter looked at him, and he went quiet.
