Chapter 1
Silverstone’s POV
There was no sound at all in the room except the sound of the clock that was ticking regularly. I was sitting on the edge of the bed, my hand on my huge belly and the other tightly gripping the letter I had come across. My heartbeat accelerated and I could barely contain myself from breaking into a thousand pieces. These were words that I could never forget.
“Jared Blackwood’s son and Serena’s unborn child are blood compatible. Continue with transfusion immediately after the baby is born.”
I looked blankly at him through the screen for a second; I was unable to process what he had said. My child the baby I had struggled for very much not to abort as Jared had insisted, was in fact meant to serve a purpose of bartering his son with my step sister, Serena
“Why would he do this?” I said to myself, the pain of betrayal is similar to a recent cut. Jared had never been warm, he had always been aloof, he had always been possessive but this was something else.
The moral of and to save Serena’s son was using our child? This made me feel sick; the bile rising in my throat, going down to the pit of my stomach.
My mind went blank and I could not think properly. This was not only about the baby. This was bigger. My fingers automatically rubbed my stomach as if I was trying to shield myself from them. The man, who I trusted with my pack when I left to come here and give birth, was going to sacrifice my baby, Lying is not the only sin he committed; he was a monster.
I rose from the chair and while getting up 1 felt my knees going weak. I convinced myself I had to get out of here. I simply couldn’t allow Jared or Serena to lay their filthy hands on my child.
“Jared was right,” I said grumbling to myself. Looking back now, I realize how foolish it was for me to trust him, to let myself fall in love with him.
This brought memories of my father’s death which I never got to comprehend well. Jared was there that night, consoling me when my father was rushed to the hospital due to a heart attack. As I went through my investigation, I realized what I had always known my father did not die from a heart attack.
And Jared had played a part.
The truth, which I was now forced to see, was painful. He did not even pass away due to sickness. He was killed. By them. All these have been done by Jared with the help of his allies..
Desperation rose within me. I will not be a prisoner. And I would reclaim what was rightfully mine–a pack, heritage and a child. I would bring justice for my father.
I collected some personal effects, stuffing them into a backpack. My mind was in a complete mess, but I realized I had to do something immediately. Jared would be back soon.
I felt my heart beating with each step I took as I slid down the stairs
The front door was so near. Only another ten seconds. Run, Silverstone, run,
All of a sudden I heard someone call out from behind.
“Where do you think you’re going?”
I froze at Jared.
