Chapter 2
My blood froze in my veins as I swung around to look at him. He was a tall man and he stood in the doorway preventing me from escaping. His dark eyes locked into mine, and I saw hatred, anger, and something far worse than I had ever witnessed
in him before.
“Jared, please.” I whispered, trying to retreat as much as I could.
“Please, let me go. You don’t have to do this.”
His lips twisted into a smile that was as dead as the eyes he was staring into.
“Too bad Silverstone, it is too late for that, you should have known better than to attempt to escape.”
“How could you?” I yelled, and the anger grew in my lungs.
“You were going to use our child! You killed my father! How long did you plan on deceiving me?”
Jared’s expression didn’t waver. He looked at me as if I was some child who had if anything, he seemed almost amused by my outburst.

My voice was shaking but I didn’t let him know I was afraid. And as for the final blow, I replied, “And you’ll never control me again
Jared’s face clouded with anger and without a word he lunged at me, I attempted to twist away and flee, but he caught me. He grabbed my throat and I choked as he lifted me up off the floor,
“You never knew when to shut up,” Jared whispered, his lips almost touching my ears.
“I am the Alpha now. And you… you are nothing.
Panic surged through me as I struggled to breathe. My vision blurred, and in my desperation, I reached out with hand, claws extending as I swiped at his face. My nails grazed his cheek, drawing blood.

For a brief second, he released me, and I fell to the ground, coughing and gasping for air. My body screamed in pain, but I couldn’t stop. I had to fight.
I tried to crawl away, but Jared was faster. Before I could make it far, he grabbed me again, this time his hand twisting my arm behind my back. I cried out as pain shot through my shoulder.
“Please… Jared.I gasped. “Don’t… do this.”
But his only response was cold laughter.
“You’re pathetic, Silverstone. You think you can fight me? You’ve already lost.”
With a cruel twist of his wrist, I felt a sharp, searing pain in my back. His claws–he had struck me. My body convulsed as the pain spread, my vision dimming.
“I won’t let you control me, I whispered weakly, though my strength was fading fast.
I won’t let you

I felt his cold hand grip my face as the world around me blurred. My breath hitched, my body becoming limp. He was breaking our bond. The deep connection we shared as mates–destroyed in a heartbeat.
As darkness closed in around me, I felt a surge of regret. For everything I had lost. For the trust I had given to a man who never deserved it. And for the future of my child, a future I might never see,
The last thin
thing I heard was Jared’s cold, detached voice. “Goodbye, Silverstone.”
