Chapter 3
Silverstone’s pov
I was on the balcony of my father’s former office, and I watched the sunrise over the land belonging to our pack.
The morning sunlight seemed to be soothing my skin but deep down I was as cold as ice. Today was the first day of my plan to get back what belonged to me and reveal the deceit and treachery that had ruined my life in the past. The burden of my father’s death was always with me, but this time I would ensure that those who killed him did not go scot–free.
1 gripped the railing tightly, my hands wrapping around the cold metal bar. I wasn’t the naïve girl I had been in my past life. anymore. I clearly knew who my enemies were and I was determined to see that they all paid for their deeds.
The first on my list was Marcus, the beta, the man who had murdered my father. He had been one of Jared’s most loyal supporters, who assisted him in the process of taking over the pack. In my previous life, I used to be so ignorant that I failed to see the reality. But now, with my memories still in place, I understood what he had done and why.
I averted my gaze from the window and got up. My pack was still reeling from the news that I had refused Jared’s proposal and rejected his attempts to take control of the pack. He had been furious, but I didn’t care. Let him rage all he wanted; he wasn’t the one in charge anymore. I was. And I wasn’t going to let him–or anyone else–dictate my future.
When I moved around the packhouse, I could sense the elders‘ stares on me; they wanted me to find a mate since the constitution of the pack stated that a leader without a mate would not remain in power for long.

It was the same they had employed before of forcing me into Jared’s arms. But this time, I was not going to be fooled
I entered the meeting hall where the elders of the community were already seated. The eyes of people followed me as I got in and I could see the discomfort in them. They did not think that I would rise up against them. They believed I was still the obedient soft–hearted alpha which they could easily control and manipulate.
“Alpha Silverstone,” Elder Harold started speaking and his tone was calm but they could hear the arrogance in his voice.
“We need to talk about your leadership role here in the pack; as per the pack’s constitution-”
1 interrupted him before he could say anything else.
“I have never heard of such a rule in the constitution,” I replied in a rather stern tone.
Tve read it myself, and there is no requirement that an alpha needs to be mated to lead, that rule was created later by you.”
Even the elders who were present in the room gasped and the room became silent for a while. I think they did not anticipate that I was going to expose the lie that they had told me within such a short period of time. Elder Harold’s face turned white and he was unable to speak properly as he replied,
“I don’t know what you are talking about –”
“Don’t try to make a fool out of me Harold, I retorted angrily.
“You changed the constitution for your benefit, to force me to marry Jared but that is not going to happen again,” she said, fiercely.
The other elders looked at each other uncomfortably not knowing how to react to the statement made by the me. I had trapped them and they were on the receiving end and didn’t know how to handle it. Good. That is where I wanted them to be and I knew that they would not be able to get past my defenses.

Chapter 33
“From this day forward,” I said with determination, “Elder Harold is no longer the Elder of this pack.
Harold spluttered and his face flushed with anger. “You cannot do that! You have no right to –”
“I’m the alpha of this pack.” I repeated, my voice icy, my eyes challenging him to deny it.
“I am well within my rights to fire anyone who is a danger to my leadership. If you want to come at me, come at me. But 1 guarantee you will regret it.”
The other elders shifted uncomfortably, but none of them dared to speak. They knew I was right. Now they had no other option left for them but to obey me. Harold got up and walked out of the room, but I could not have cared less. He was the first of many who would fall down.
With Harold gone, I turned my attention to the real threat: Marcus. He was still out there, going about his business like a man who hadn’t just brutally killed my father in the prime of his life. But I would not allow him to go scot–free. I had been collecting information for the past few weeks, trying to find out what really happened on the night my father was killed.
I had witnesses–wolves who had been too afraid to come forward in the past and testify the truth. And I had Marcus’s own words, speaking in what he believed was a casual conversation. He had admitted to being an accomplice to my father’s death thinking that he was immune to the law. But he was wrong.
I contacted some of the pack’s thugs and told them to capture Marcus alive so that he could be interrogated. I wanted him to look at me, to acknowledge that he was done. He had been loyal to Jared’s cause for so long, but now it was time to collect
for his sins.
And it did not take long for the enforcers to locate him. Marcus was, therefore, taken to the packhouse, his hands chained in silver handcuffs, and he looked terrified. He realized that he was trapped and that he cannot run away anymore.
I was standing in front of him, my heart was racing with rage and satisfaction at the same time.
-You
killed my father,” I said angrily, but with as much restraint as I could muster.
“You believed that you were free to do it, but you were mistaken.”
Marcus looked around the room for a friend to turn to but there was no one he could turn to for help now. He tried to reply but I interrupted him.
“I have witnesses. I have your confession,” I said, moving closer to him.
“You will be punished for what you have done.”
He looked frustrated as his face contorted.
“Alpha Silverstone, please, I was only doing what I was told to do, Jared, he made me, he-
“Who told you to do it?” 1 growled back at him.
“You had an option, and you decided to betray your alpha, you decided to kill him.”
I moved aside and my heart was racing like a wild horse. This was it.
I stepped back, my heart pounding in my chest. This was it. This was the justice I had longed for, the closure I needed to move forward Marcus would face trial, and I would ensure that he paid for his crime,
As Marcus was dragged away, I felt a sense of relief wash over me. But I knew this was only the beginning. Jared was still out there, still scheming, still a threat. And there were others who had been complicit in his plans–others who had to be
brought to justice.
But for now, I had taken the first step. I had reclaimed my power, my pack, and my father’s legacy. And I wasn’t done yet.
Vengeance had only just begun.
