Chapter 4
Silverstone’s pov-
The annual wrestling festival was in full swing, and the energy in the air was electric. The whole pack had gathered in the open arena, where the strongest wolves would face off in traditional wrestling matches. It was a time of celebration, camaraderie, and most of all, proving one’s strength. But today, the festival felt different. Tense. There was an edge to the excitement that hadn’t been there before.
I stood near the edge of the arena, my heart pounding in my chest. My eyes were locked on Klein, who was across the field, preparing for the match of his life, Jared, my former mate, had issued a public challenge to him, and the entire pack knew this wasn’t just about the festival. It was personal. It was about dominance, pride, and ultimately, me.
“Are
you sure about this, Silverstone?” Elish my personal maid asked, standing beside me. Her brows were knit together in concern as she followed my gaze.
“Jared is dangerous. He’s been training for years, and Klein…. well, we know what Jared thinks of him.”
I swallowed hard, my throat dry with anxiety.
“I don’t know what to think, Elish. I’ve always believed Jared’s lies. That Klein was weak, that he wasn’t worthy of me.” I looked down at my hands, guilt twisting in my gut.
“But I was wrong. Klein is stronger than I ever gave him credit for.”
Elish squeezed my arm, her voice softening. “You’ve seen the truth now. Klein isn’t weak, Silverstone. He’s capable. And he’s fighting for you.”
I nodded, but the fear still gnawed at me. I had rejected Klein in my past life, thinking he wasn’t enough. Now, I had a second chance to fix everything, but the stakes were so much higher.
The sound of the starting bell cut through the air, and I jerked my head up, my breath catching as the two men faced each other. Jared, tall and imposing, with his familiar sneer plastered on his face, and Klein, calm and collected, his on his opponent. The crowd fell silent, waiting for the first move.
eyes focused
Jared moved first, the speed he displayed was good and he threw a punch at Klein’s abdomen. But Klein moved aside easily as he seemed to possess good reflex muscles in his body. The audience held their breaths, they were evidently waiting for Jared to knock him out right away. I kept my breath as they fought, the anticipation increasing with each impact of the muscles and strength.
Jared growled, lunging forward and swung again, but Klein was fast, he dodged the blow and punched Jared in the ribs. The effect was obvious–Jared stepped back with his hands on his face, looking bewildered. He had not thought that Klein would react with such ferocity and it was evident.
I could only look in disbelief as Klein kept on standing his ground and not only that but he was even overpowering his opponent. He was stronger than I have ever seen. Both movements were precise, deliberate, and as if he had been planning this moment, this opportunity to show everyone that they were wrong.
To prove
me wrong
It was a very long match and the audience was on the verge of their seats but eventually after a series of fast punches, Klein knocked Jared down in a move that could not be overturned. Jared fell to the ground and was momentarily unable to breathe and the crowd cheered loudly
I sighed a sigh of relief then immediately felt proud of myself. Klein had done it. He had beaten Jared not only in the act but

in the allegory. He had demonstrated his might, his value and I could not be more proud of him as a man.
I immediately started running towards Klein, elbowing my way through the people that surrounded him. He was slightly out of breath but his facial expression did not betray him as he looked at the crowd and then at me. For a second or two, the rest of the world faded away. It was just us.
I wasn’t bothered by the eyes on me, or the hushed voices that would ensue. I moved closer to him and gently kissed him without holding back my emotions in that single kiss. My shame, my glory, my passion. When I stepped back, Klein stared at me with shock in his eyes but there was a glimmer of something that resembled hope.

“I was wrong about you,” I said softly, but with conviction.
gs But I want to be right now Klein, I want you to be my mate.”
“I have been so wrong in so many things
He swallowed hard and paused for a second, looking deep into my eyes,
“Are you sure, Silverstone? After everything?”
I simply nodded my head, my heart beating fast. “Yes. I’m sure. I wish to be with you. But we can’t make it public. Not yet. Jared is a fighter and he will not let go of the fight easily, this is something that we have to consider.”
Smiling at Klein, I asked,
“Is that what you are going to do?” Klein’s face relaxed and he nodded. This is what we will do your way. But Silverstone, know this–I’m not going anywhere. Not again.”
I smiled, feeling a wonderful feeling of serenity envelop me now and for the first time in what seemed like in the right place.
ages, I knew I was
But the moment did not last long; as we got out of the arena, my stepsister, Serena, found us, her lips curved into that forced smile that she always wore.
“Hello darling” she said, slowly approaching me with her hands in her pocket.
“I have someone I think you should meet
I frowned, my good mood spoiled by the sight of her.
“Now?” Can’t it wait?”
For a moment, Serena’s eyes darted with displeasure, but she kept the smile on her face.
“It is important, I believe that you will wish to get acquainted with her. She pointed at a woman who was standing a couple of meters away from us, staring at us with a look of pure hatred.
“This is Lisa,” Serena said with a touch of honey in her voice,
“Jared’s sister.”
A shiver went down my back. I knew Lisa before but never met her, she was even worse than Jared, if not more, and if she was here it could only be bad news.
Lisa smiled but there was
was no friendliness in it.
“I’ve heard so much about you Silverstone, I am quite certain that we are going to be meeting quite frequently in the near future.”
The tone with which she said that made my spine tingle for some reason I knew this was not just her introducing me to her friend Lisa, there was something more to this and it involved me.
I tried to smile and look at Lisa,
“I’m sure we will.”
As they walked away, I turned to Klein, a knot forming in my stomach.
“This isn’t good. Serena and Lisa… they’re Up to something. I can feel it.”
