Chapter 6
Silverstone’s pov
“I need to talk to you about Klein, Silverstone. What’s going on?”
“What do you mean by what’s going on? Is there a problem?”
“Why is he all over you, is there something I don’t know?”
Klein is all over me?! Jared must be really crazy trying to rub off his attitude on Klein, Besides if there was anyone that had cockroaches in their cupboard, it was definitely him. Not Klein
“Is that why you wanted to bring down my door?! What gave you such rights to try and question my place with my pack member?!” My voice grew stronger with every word I said, my face was stoic.
I walked out of my chair and approached him fiercely.
“Look Jared, you might be the negotiator of the Shadow pack but that doesn’t give you the right, any right, to dare question how I relate with my people. Don’t cross your boundaries Jared, else…”
I warned him seriously but he just stared at me, he opened his mouth to speak but he was void of words.
“I didn’t mean it that way, Silverstone, I was only looking out for you,” he grabbed my hand, gently massaging my fingers.
“I thought that good for nothing Klein was bothering you. See Silverstone…” he walked closer to me, locking the distance between us.
“This might not be the right time to talk about this but Silverstone, I like you. I like you a lot. I love you. I know you might have noticed it, I want to be with you. Please give me a chance.” He said calmly.
For a moment, I looked at his eyes, they shone brightly, almost illuminating the room. One would think his feelings were genuine, but for my past life, I would have believed everything he just said.
But I was no longer that Silverstone, that dumb Silverstone that fell for him only to be brutally betrayed by him.
I shook his hands away from mine, walking back to my seat.
“I don’t want to talk to you, Jared. Leave.” I said coldly. He looked at me for a while, still trying to buy my emotions with those bright blue eyes of his but I maintained my grounds.
“Leave Jared. Don’t make me repeat myself again.”
And he walked away, looking sad and utterly shattered.
The news of Alpha Derek’s visit spread out our pack like wildfire. Some were excited that I delayed his requests while others. were against it.
Alpha Derek is a well known Alpha, one of the most powerful and talked about Alpha s of our time. Having a pact with his pack would definitely bring a lot of development to the Shadow pack but I had to put his request on hold for a reason.
I wanted to investigate him.
That morning while I stayed at my window admiring the rain and nature. I saw him with Jared shortly before Jared came to inform me of the meeting.

Chapter 6
It looked like they were having a conversation, who knows this might be another means of Jared trying to siphon money from the packs coffers.
Derek’s proposal was simple, yet questionable. He wanted our packs to have a joint ‘moonlight festival. The moonlight festival is an ascension ceremony where the pack celebrates the rise of a new Alpha, often after a challenge or death of the previous leader.
Among many festivities, young hardworking wolves in the pack were given donations in order to help them grow their businesses. This was a way the pack mobilized the youths and that has made the Shadow pack outstanding over the years with little to no case of crime as everyone had something to do.
The donations were made on the occasion, by the pack elders alongside some of the palace Betas. But Alpha Derek had at new proposal, a strange proposal.
He wanted our packs to have a joint donation but instead of giving out the money to the youths during the occasion, the chief negotiator as well as his palace Betas will distribute the money to the pack.
His reason was to save time and create an avenue for other events and merging with us will definitely make the packexcited. It will also create room for more alliances with his pack
If I hadn’t seen him with Jared maybe I would have agreed. Because inasmuch as I wasn’t comfortable with the idea, I would like my pack to form an alliance with the Crescent pack. I didn’t trust Jared and I certainly didn’t know Alpha Derek well enough.
After thinking about Derek’s proposal I decided to confront Jared, who knows, he might unknowingly sell himself out to me.
“Jared?” I called, standing outside his chamber. He ushered me in warmly but I could still see the mark I left on him the previous day boldly written on his face.
“We need to discuss our approach for the meeting. Do you have any contrary plans
“We can stick to Alpha Derek’s plans and hope for the best. This could be an opportunity to have a concord with the Crescent pack.” Jared said, I looked at him, noting the tension in his shoulders,
“We must not lose our guards Jared, Alpha Derek’s proposal is unprecedented. We need to put our pack first.”
“If you’re scared of the money not getting to the right hands, then you don’t have any cause to worry. I’ll make sure everything goes well,” Jared reassured me. I looked at his face as he released those words from his lying mouth.
Only if I had a chance to twist his mouth and make sure he never spoke again all his life.
Our gaze locked as I stood up to leave, the air between us cracking with tension.
It was no longer about Alpha Derek’s proposal, it was about the things he told me the last time we had an argument. It was about his feelings for me.
He stood to see me off when something fell out of his pocket, it was a picture. I strained my eyes to look at it, it was a picture of him and someone that looked like Serena, my step sister looking all loved up.
