Chapter 9
Silverstone’s pov
“Condition?” I spat on his face, a stoic demeanor masks my emotion.
“One more word from you Jared, and you can as well forget about going with us. How dare you try to condition my decision? What…”
“I’m sorry…”
“Don’t you dare interrupt me, Jared Blackwood!” My face was masked with fury, my gaze piercing through his heart like at sharp sword.
I looked at Klein’s face, and he gave me the ‘go girl‘ look. Jared was silent. If it had been in my previous life, I wouldn’t have said anything. I won’t not have said any words to oppose him, he always got away with anything and everything that he
wanted.
All through the journey he didn’t say a word to either of us. He was like an obedient puppy, it was like he had just been stripped of his powers.
As we drove by, I couldn’t help but admire the houses with wraparound porches and gray paint that were constructed in the last several decades but yet have the comforting wear of pack life.
Klein led us along the main road, which was still paved but has crevices where weeds are trying to grow. With homes dispersed but connected by well–traveled walkways and common areas, the Crescent pack sprawled across the valley in a well–practiced kind of anarchy.
We could see the focal point is their pack home, a large two–story building with a large front porch and useful improvements over the years. Indeed, Derek has done well for the Crescent pack.
The structure itself is a blend of the old and the new, with satellite dishes partially concealed beneath deteriorating gutters, newer windows where necessary, and wooden siding painted a faded blue. But generally, it was a beautiful sight to behold.
As we approached further, I saw a few guards attempting to appear laid back in jeans and sweatshirts while they monitored our approach.
“Good to see you again, Luna Silverstone. Your beauty still radiates like the sun,” Alpha Derek complimented me, softly kissing my hand.
“It’s so good to see you again.” He continued, Derek was such a flirt. Rumor has it that he has over twenty children with different women.
“It’s good to see you again too, alpha Derek. I couldn’t help but admire the many developments you’ve brought to your pack.” I smiled, slightly pulling my hands away.
He ushered us into his council chamber for formalities. Some of his palace betas were there too. They entertained us, there was enough food and drinks for everyone.
I noticed something unusual, one of Derek’s men kept staring at Klein, his gaze was fixed on Klein and that made me a little uneasy. But Klein cared less. He was more interested in protecting me than protecting himself.
I signed the treaty after scrutinizing it.
“All done!” Derek squalled, he was a little too excited about the treaty. What could he be up to?

I fixed my gaze on Jared, I never let him out of my sight. I guess he must have noticed that I was a little too conscious of his actions and he didn’t want to ruin his chances of stealing from the pack.
I could no longer see anything good in Jared, everything he did made me suspect him even more. Even when he just breathes, I feel like he only drew that breath in order to do something terrible.
I couldn’t control how his every action made me feel, I don’t blame myself either.
“Luna Silverstone?” Alpha Derek’s voice retorted. I turned to him, curious of what he would say. I mean, we’ve already signed the treaty, what could he have called me to tell me?
“If you don’t mind, we’d like to take you on a tour round our palace. It’s your first time visiting us, give us the honors of giving you something to take back to the Shadow pack.”
It wasn’t a bad idea, I mean, we already arrived late and we certainly can’t return to the Shadow pack today, time was running against us.
“I’ll be my honor, alpha Derek.” I responded with a smile. Everything was fine until his next statement.
“While they show you and beta Klein around, Jared and I will go for the final process of the documentation.” He said, piling up the documents.
Him and Jared go for another documentation? Last time I remember, I already signed the treaty and we were done with the documentation. So what other documentation was Derek talking about?
I opened my mouth to speak but Klein tapped my hands and I immediately understood the sign.
“That’s perfect, Derek. You’re so kind.” I let out a fake smile. Klein and I were led around, starting from their garden.
“This is Alpha Derek’s favorite plant, the Middlemist Red Camellia. It is the rarest and most beautiful flower in the world.” Clara, their head maid said, pointing at the flower that blossomed graciously.
“Here, this is the..” she continued, but I interrupted her.
“Can you excuse us for a moment? I need to have a word with my beta”
“Yes, I’m at your service my queen.” She bowed and left.
“Why did you deter me from confronting Derek? You know how much I don’t trust their combination. How…” I opened my mouth to utter my next words but Klein’s lips were already locked in mine.
He kissed me so passionately, releasing his lips, he held my still locked in mine.
cheeks, his eyes
“You’re getting too walked up Silverstone, this is not how to go about it.” His voice was as calm as the sea, unlike Jared who always barked like a dog
“I know you’re concerned about your pack, about your father, but if you don’t do things the right way, you might end up like him.”
For a while, I thought of everything he said, it made sense. I was too conscious and I watched Jared too closely.
“Jared is very start, haven’t you noticed how I’m always calm around him? You don’t deal with a man like Jared by being too loud. You need to think and act in silence.”
I couldn’t help but admire his charisma as he spoke, this is a man! Klein is definitely a real man.

My eyes were still locked in his, he wasn’t ready to let go of mine and I definitely wasn’t ready to let go of his either.
“So my darling.” his hands slowly moved from my cheeks to my lips, he rubbed my lower lips, his eyes burning with desire.
“Relax a little ok? I have a plan, but you need to stay calm.” His words immediately calmed me down.
We returned to Jared and Derek, they were already done. Klein didn’t return to the council chamber with me, he said he needed to check something, that he’d join me later.
While I conversed with Derek, we overheard a loud scream and we immediately traced the noise. It was from Klein and one of Derek’s betas, Karl. The same wolf that was sprucely staring at him in the boardroom.
It looked like they were having an argument.
“What is going on here?!” Derek fumed. His brow slightly furrowed. But none of them responded.
“Klein? What’s going on here?” I walked to Klein and held his hands.
“What’s going on here?”
“This man has a lot to say to you, alpha Derek!” Klein riposted, I could see how angry he was. His hands trembled, his face. curved into an entirely different shape. I have never seen Klein this angry.
“He is a thief!” No doubt that Klein was furious, Derek’s jaw dropped visibly.
