Chapter 11
I was exhausted from the trip, no doubt that I needed time to rest but I couldn’t help but admire Klein’s courage. How he stood firmly on what he believed in, despite how Derek tried to intimidate him with his power as the Alpha.
There were a lot of reasons for me to like Klein. He was calm, very reserved but yet his voice commanded so much respect and his height made him stand out.
He was perfect, a match made for me.
As I reached for the doorknob of my room, a voice interrupted me from behind.
“Silverstone?”
“Jared?” I turned to him, disbelief etched on my face.
“What was the meaning of that?”
“Meaning of what?”
He drew closer to me, his eyes burning with rage..
“What were you trying to achieve by letting Klein challenge Alpha Derek like that, what did he hope to achieve?!” His face turned crimson, a storm brewing within.
“Thank goodness that Derek didn’t press the issue, else the Shadow pack would have been in hot soup and all my efforts to see that we form an alliance with his pack would be for nothing!”
His rage grew even worse, piercing through him as he spoke,
“Your efforts? Last time I remember the decision was made by our pack!” I responded, returning the same energy. He always had this way of wanting to take the glory for a collective effort, he had always been like that, even in my past life.
Jared laughed mockingly saying, “you don’t know everything Silverstone. You don’t know anything”
“Klein was only looking out for our pack, something you failed to see the importance of. Besides, I thought you had a headache. You’re screaming all over the place again!TM
The was the exact reason I had hoped that that headache never left him, what does Jared even think of himself raising his voice at me like that‘
“We need to make allies, allies Silverstone, and not enemies! Can’t you see it?”
“Ser what? Derek perfectly understood the situation, you said so yourself. If he wasn’t angry, why are you?!” I swallowed hard on nothing as I tried to control my rage. I shook my head violently as I tried to remove my hair whipping about my face, my eyes flashing with intensity
“Are you wared of Klein? Why are you so threatened by his presence! Klein gives no fuck about you, you should do the same? You…”
I was interrupted by my sister Serena, I didn’t even notice that we were that loud
“Silverstone? Jared She called from afar, approaching us.

Chapter 11
“Is there a problem?” She asked, staring me in the eyes and I couldn’t look away.
“There’s no problem.” I faked a smile.
She turned to Jared,
“There’s no problem Serena, Silverstone and I were only discussing about the packs Moonlight festival.”
“Then why were you yelling? Sis? Is there a problem, you know you can always talk to me”
“There’s no problem Serena, I guess we are both tired from the trip.
“Yes, Serena, your sister is right.” Jared added but Serena wasn’t satisfied. Every time Serena spoke, I noticed the way she looked at Jared. It drew my mind back to the picture I found in Jared’s room.
Who was actually in that picture?
What could they have going on that made my bold Serena unstable whenever she was close to him?
I didn’t want to give her an opportunity to further interrogate us.
“Serena, return to your room. Meet me later in the day, I want to have a word with you.”
“Is there a problem? I hope everything is well?”
“Yes. There’s no cause for alarm. I just want to know your take on something. It’s not too much of a big deal.” I reassured her with a smile on my face and she smiled, casing the tension in the air.
She gave a soft nod and left. Jared looked at me intensely, “Silverstone,” I turned away, not daring to look at him.
His swollen neck veins and flushed face suddenly became less pronounced. His shoulders drop from their rigid height as the hard lines surrounding his mouth soften.
“I’m only looking out for the pack, I just don’t want any harm to come to us? Please understand that.” He said calmly as he gently grabbed my hands. His wild eyes regain focus, now nearly astonished at his own outburst, and his clenched fists slowly uncurl as his thunderous voice fades into a quiet breath.
“You’re talking about harm? Coming from someone who.“I held myself, the words ‘someone who killed my father and I for my pack? That was threatening to spill.
“Look, Silverstone. I don’t want to argue with you anymore. It’s almost like we never agree.” He sighed.
He should try to be as gentle as he could with his words, I will not fall for his tricks, not now and definitely not ever!
“And as for Klein, I’m not threatened by him. It’s just that I don’t feel comfortable seeing you too together, but he’s no match for me. He might be the head Beta but,” he stopped himself, slightly adjusted the white shirt that he was wearing, then
continued.
“I don’t care about him, Silverstone. He’s a nobody to me he doesn’t exist in my world”
I watched him rain insults on a man that cared less about his existence.
Jared had a lot of things to learn, knowing when not to speak was one of them.
“I’m tired, Jared, I need to rest.” I turned to leave but he held me back.
“Are you still mad at me?”
“You should watch your tone, Jared, I won’t always forgive you.”
“But you.” he was interrupted by Elish, she had come to deliver the new set of jewelry that I had ordered from the pack’s jeweler.
“Welcome back my queen, Sir Jared.” She took turns to bow at us, her gaze flickering between Jared and I.
“These are the bracelets you requested.” She said, stretching her hands to show them to me.
“Take them to my room” I said absentmindedly, I didn’t even look at her.
“I need to rest Jared. You should too.
The Moon light festival was the best day for me to strike and I had to prepare for it. While others thought of what to wear for the occasion, all that was on my mind was how to get evidence against Jared and put an end to all this drama once and
for all.
If there was anything that I was scared of, it was making any mistake that’ll cause a repetition of my past life. I can’t afford to go back to that life where I was treated as a slave by my own husband. The consequences would be dire.
But being able to gather evidence against him wasn’t going to be an easy task, especially with the way things were going. But tomorrow is another day and I’ll make the most of it.
Mu mund traveled to my sister, the only reason that I had asked her to see me later was because of that picture of Jared and Lisa that I found in his office.
I wanted to ask her a few questions about Lisa.
I needed to know the relationship she had with her the relationship that they both have with her.
Apparently, everyone that was close to Jared posed a threat to this pack and I won’t spare the person.
