Chapter 13
Silverstone’s pov
Every step I took echoed like a hammer blow against steel as I moved through the sterile prison corridor, the anger burning cold in my chest. My hands were completely steady, despite the internal turmoil.
The correction officer’s keys jangled, accompanied by an unsettling tune, as I approached the man who took everything from me, the palace Beta who is now a sword enemy of the pack and a threat to this kingdom.
This
the moment that I had dreamed about a thousand times. At times, I imagined myself yelling, at other moments, I kept my cool. However, as I got closer to the visitor’s room, my feelings jumbled like watercolors that were leaking together: sadness and hatred, curiosity and disgust, all vying for control. I used to think that I was ready for this moment until today.
My jaw hurt from clenching and grinding my teeth against thoughts of the burial, of vacant holiday chairs, and of unanswerable inquiries. My eyes darted around the prison walls, behind these walls lay sharp edges and terrible truths, and the fluorescent lights that created harsh shadows that went well with my mood. It prepared me for what was ahead.
As I stopped in front of the last door, my fingers grazed the Moonlight medal my father usually wore, which was now dangling around my neck. Its familiar ridges reminded me of the reason for coming–not for revenge, but for comprehension. For the sake of closure.
For what little calm I might wrest from this wound that never seemed to go away.
As I toured through my thoughts, a guard approached me, “Are you ready, my queen?”
I nodded to him, as I took a long breath that tasted of disinfectant and hopelessness. I was prepared.
All set to approach Marcus.
I was ready.
Ready to face the monster who wore a
a man’s face.
Ready to look into the eyes of the last man that saw my f
my father alive.
Ready, at last, to speak my truth – even if my voice was shaky.
The pack’s prison was built in such a way that no one could escape from it once captured.
Over twenty abled bodied wolves guarded it, but with Marcus in there, I increased the security. I didn’t want to hear any stories. He is even lucky I allowed them to feed him twice daily, he should thank Klein for that,
I got to his cell, and before me was the treacherous bastard that killed my father. He didn’t look surprised to see me, it was like he was already waiting for me to arrive.
Like he already knew about it
“My queen” he said, fear gripping him. It was as though he had seen a savior.
“Don’t My voice was strel “Don’t you dare call me your queen, Marcus Ispat on his face.
How could be shamelessly betray his own pack, his alpha and everything he represented!
“I hope you are happy now that you’ve taken him out of this world. I promise you one thing. Marcus,” I walked closer to him.

“You’ll die a painful death! You’ll beg for mercy but it’ll be far from you.” My expression was masked in a full wrath.
Marcus looked at me sadly, like he regretted everything he had done.
Looking at his face intensely, I noticed some bruises on his neck.
When Klein became the palace beta, he abolished the rule that permitted the prison keepers to manhandle the prisoners.
He said it wasn’t right to torture them since they would still face the wrath of the law. I saw reasons with him, the elders too.
Hence those injuries weren’t from the prison keeper, but they were obviously heavy. Which only means that someone had
hit him.
“You have a chance to make it right. Marcus.” He raised his head, staring me in the eyes. I could see the excitement in his
eyes.
“If you help me, I’ll ease your punishment. I’ll inform the elders that you provided me with valid information that will help us apprend your accomplices. I adjusted my recorder, making sure that it was on.
He looked at me, his face masked with pain and regrets but I felt no pity for him. He deserved everything that was happening to him. Every one of them! I’ll make him bleed so badly, this is my promise to him.
“Again I ask you, Marcus, who told you to kill the king.” I continued, my rage growing.
Marcus cried out. “I’ve told you before, Luna. It was Jared. The pack’s negotiator.” He fell to the ground, tears enveloping him. It was obvious that he was sorry, but it was too late.
I staggered backwards, even though I had heard this news before, it still destabilized me. My poor father, a lover of all, was made to go through so much pain! How could his killers go scot free! I’ll deal with Jared, but first, I need to teach Marcus a lesson he won’t forget even in his next life.
That’s if the moon goddess finds him worthy of another life.
“Why why? Why did Jared ask you to kill the king!” My brows knitted together in a fierce growl.
“I don’t know! He only asked me to kill the king. He didn’t say why!” He cried out, his energy cracking like electricity.
“He threatened to kill my family, please help them. They are in danger!
your visit and warned me not to say a word to you. When I
A woman was here a few minutes ago, she informed me of you refused she beat me up mercilessly.”
For some reason, everything Marcus said felt true. I was convinced that he wasn’t lying. Even his reaction when he saw me made me believe him.
“Did you see the woman’s face?”
–
“No! She wore a mask. I know that I’ve committed a huge crime against my pack against you. I know that I don’t deserve. your mercy.” he cried uncontrollably.
“I know I don’t have any right to ask anything from you but please my Luna, save my family. Their lives are in danger. She threatened to kill my pregnant wife and my son and I know that she’ll do it. Please help me!” He fell to the ground, his legs struggling with the chains that were used to bound them
If someone was actually here a while ago to threaten him, it only means that the person must have been informed of my intentions to visit Marcus.

Chapter 13
I remember vividly that I never discussed my intentions to visit him with anyone. Klein w couldn’t have discussed it with Jared nor any other pack member.
barely around and I certainly
At that point 1 became more scared for myself, for my pack. How far does this go? Who is involved in this that I knew not?
“I’ll bring your wife and son to live with us in the palace. I’ll protect them. This is a word from your Luma.” I assured him.
Even though he was a criminal, it was still my duty to protect my pack. And his wife and son were innocent. I couldn’t watch them suffer for the crime he committed. I turned to leave but something stopped me. I stared closer to see the item on the floor, it was a piece of a torn picture.
Taking another look at it, I discovered that it was Jared’s picture. It was a torn piece of Jared’s picture.
1 gasped, flying my right hand over my mouth. My body shivered, it was like I had seen a ghost. It further proved Jared’s involvement, how could he be this heartless. All for what? Power? Fame? Wealth?
“Il inform the elders of your confession and we’ll revisit your case. But firstly, I get your children across to the palace.” I reassured him, when suddenly, I heard a loud noise behind me. It was like someone was eavesdropping.
“Who’s there?!” I exuded with volume, but there was no response.
As I approached the place that the noise came from, a woman, dressed in a baggie black gown jumped down and took to her heels.
I immediately summoned the guards, “get her!”
