Chapter 20
We turned hastily to look at where the sound came from, it was from a squirrel on the tree.
It was a special moment for both of us Klein found a small clearing, bathed in moonlight. He turned to me, his eyes gleaming with a mix of trust and tenderness. He wanted me, his whole body craved me.
He didn’t hesitate, he pulled me close, capturing my lips in a passionate kiss.
1 responded eagerly, my hands roaming over his chest and shoulders. No doubt, I was all over him.
The kiss deepened, growing more urgent as we let our pent–up emotions take over. All our worries had vanished into thin
air.
Klein’s lips trailed down to my neck, and I elicited a soft gasp. His hands slid under my shirt, caressing my bare skin.
“Um.” I let out a soft moan.
My eyes, usually bright with affection, now held uncertainty.
“Wait” I whispered, her voice trembling slightly. “I need a moment.” He stared at me, not completely satisfied with my request to stop, but he yielded to my request for a while.
“We shouldn’t…” I murmured halfheartedly, even as I arched into his touch. Even though my body wanted him. I had to hold. back. I wasn’t completely ready for this.
“No one will find us here. Klein whispered against my skin. “Let me help you forget, just for tonight.”
He grabbed me even closer, kissing me more intensely.
-Klein” I gasped, pushing him away.
“I’m not ready. I need time to process things. I love you and I know that you love me too, but.” I stopped myself, my eyes darting around his face.
“I perfectly understand you, Silverstone.” He said softly, he grabbed my hand. gently massaging my fingers.
“I’m sorry. I will wait for you. Silverstone. No matter how long it’ll take.” He kissed my forehead and embraced me. I let myself lose in his arms.
We sat under the moon, letting the breeze of the night engulf us.
The forest was alive with the sounds of the hunt. Paws thundered across the underbrush, and excited yips filled the air as we chased our prey. I ran at the prey, my wolf form strong and sure, reveling in the simple joy of the chase.
But something was different, it didn’t feel right. I felt… stronger, Faster. Different. The world around me seemed sharper, more vivid than I had ever experienced before. Was this a side effect of being reborn as a primordial wolf? Or something else entirely? A lot of questions ran through my mind.
Our target, a massive elk, broke through a clearing ahead. Without thinking for a second, I pushed myself harder, faster. Suddenly, the world blurred around me. In an instant, I had crossed the clearing, my claws closing around the elk’s throat before I even realized what had happened.
As the elk fell, I stood over it, panting heavily My packmates Turst into the clearing a moment later, plunging to a stop as they took in the scene. Their eyes were wide, a mix of awe and fear in their gazes.
I shifted back to my human form, my hands shaking slightly, my breath earthy.
“.. I don’t know what happened, I stuttered, looking down at my hands as if they belonged to someone else, maybe they
did.
Jared approached cautiously, his expression unreadable.
“Silverstone,” he said slowly, walking towards me.
“How did you do that? I’ve never seen anyone move so fast.” His brows shot up, eyes wide.
1 shook my head as I struggled to find words.
“I’m not sure. It just… happened.
Luna Maria stepped forward, her eyes narrowed in concern.
“Are you feeling alright? That was… incredible, but also a bit frightening. She looked at me, her face, a mist of shock and doubt and her voice was raspy
“I’m fine,” I tried to walk away but she held me backwards.
“I’ve been watching you for a while, Silverstone. Is there something about you that I don’t know?” She asked, concern written. all over her face.
Luna Maria is my childhood friend, after the death of her husband and Alpha of the Night Side, she was forced to leave her kingdom as she was unable to bear any heir for him before his demise.
She stayed with me while she plotted her revenge against those ruthless elders that took everything from her.
“There’s no cause for alarm, Maria, everything is under control.” I walked away, trying to avoid further questions from her, The rest of the pack murmured in amusement, some eyeing me with newfound respect, others with thinly veiled suspicion. Serena was speechless. I could feel the delicate balance of trust that was crumbling, starting to build up.
I walked to the pack members, staring at them, I choked out.
“I’m fine. I assured them, forcing a smile.
“Just a burst of adrenaline, I suppose. Nothing to worry about.”
But as we made our way back to the pack, dragging our impressive kill, I could feel Jared’s eyes on me. His gaze was intense, curious and maybe a little hungry. I knew he had a lot of questions to ask me.
He only kept quiet because of Luna Maria. He always avoided her.
Over the next few days, I tried to keep a low profile, but my new abilities had other plans.
The news spread throughout the pack, I was not sure how that made me feel.
Jared approached me, the moment I saw him I knew that I was up for a lot of talking
“Silverstone, are you busy? I mean, I know that you’re always busy, but please.” he looked at me nervously, trying to steady
7 want you to go somewhere with me, it’s not far from the pack.”
“And why do you think that I would want to follow you!”
«hverstone.” he drew a long breath.
“I know that things have not really been fine between us, but please. Just come with me, I promise to make everything right
agam
Make everything right again? Jared must be a sick joker! After everything he has done? How he shamelessly embarrassed me during the last moonlight festival? He sure thinks I was a fool.
“I have things to do today, Jared. I still have to train with the others.”
“How about tomorrow? Please Silverstone, it won’t take all day I p
promise.”
This might be an opportunity for me to figure out his relationship with Lisa, I couldn’t let go of the opportunity.
“Where the hell are you even taking me to?”
“It’s a surprise.” He whispered.
