Chapter 28
Silverstone’s pov
Jared scanned the whole place, looking for me.
My heart raced wildly against my ribs, but I fought to keep perfectly still.
Every muscle in my body was tense, screaming to move, to release cramping pressure but I couldn’t take a step. Everything I had worked so hard for will be in shambles, if I take one miscalculated step.
“Maria,” Jared started, letting out a fake smile.
“Hello Jared….”
“I didn’t think I would find you here.”
“Me neither, what are you doing here? Maria asked, her voice calm.
If there was one thing that she knew how to do perfectly, it was how to read the room.
“I was just passing by when I bumped into Silverstone’s car that was parked outside, I was surprised she’d be here.”
He looked around,
“Where’s she?”
“Who?”
“Don’t play dumb with me, Maria. You know who I’m talking about, where’s Silverstone?”
“She’s not here, isn’t it a little too obvious?”
“Then what is her car doing outside?”
–
“I borrowed it, do you have a problem with that?”
He looked at Klein, casting a disgusting eye on him he said,
“I can see that you’re having fun with this…” he looked at him from head to toe,
well, I’d rather not say.”
“Why?” Klein walked closer to him, locking the distance between them.
Because you’re scared? Coward! Say the word and I’ll put you in your place.” Klein challenged him authoritatively.
He stepped backwards, fear etched on his face.
“I don’t have the time to waste on…” he held himself, fear gripping him.
Maria watched them battle words between themselves with a mischievous smile on her face. She turned to Jared.
“I don’t believe that you were here because of Silverstone’s car that’s parked outside. Something tells me that you’re lying She looked him in the eye as though she was trying to see the future through them.

Chapter 28
“Hold on, were you stalking her?”
“Me? Jared, stalk Silverstone?” He laughed sarcastically, tucking his hands in his pocket. He continued,
“I can’t possibly be stalking someone that’s already mine, Maria. See…” he brought out his phone and showed Maria a picture he secretly took of us on a date.
I knew he was definitely up to something the moment he offered me a seat, what did he intend to achieve by trying to humiliate Klein like that?
“So you see. Silverstone went on a date with me earlier today and she pledged her undying love and support for me. I could go on but..” he smiled, taking another glance at Klein. His face was masked with a mix of satisfaction and pleasure.
“She’s all mine Maria, I’m Jared after all. I always get what I want – who I want.” A sarcastic smile playing on his lips.
Maria was shocked, she wasn’t expecting to see me in a secluded area with that bastard..
“You think I trust you with those pictures? You definitely photoshopped her into it.” She continued, anger gripping in but she faked a smile.
The moment Jared mentioned the date from earlier today, I could see the disappointment in Klein’s face.
I had lied to him about my whereabouts earlier today because I didn’t want to hurt him, but look what that has gotten me
into.
Jared glanced at Klein and Maria, “You two should be together, you’re a perfect match.” He smirked.
As I watched them banter words, cold sweat trickled down my neck. My throat felt so tight that I could barely swallow.
The two men that were with Jared scanned the room, searching for anything, anyone.
They were searching for me.
Jared has definitely bitten more than he could chew this time.
Each soft footstep that drew near sent tidal waves of panics through my chest, time stretched endlessly.
“When are they even going to leave?” I muttered within myself.
“I don’t have all day to spend ranting words with you two,” he turned to the two huge men beside him,
“Let’s go.” As they turned to leave, Maria stopped him, grabbing his hand.
and Jared, who are these men?”
“Oh they are our pack members. I don’t expect you to know them before you bewit…” he didn’t finish his words.
Maria was heartbroken but she tried to stay strong. Klein patted her back gently as he tried to console her.
“He’s not worth it, trust me.”
Jared and his men drove off and I came out of my hideout, panting profusely. My legs were trembling so badly that I could barely stand

Chapter 28
I struggled to walk for a while but I could barely walk properly, the fear of them returning haunting me.
“See?!” Maria screamed, pulling me to herself.
“What can you do without me, Silverstone?”
“How…how did you know about Jared?” I managed to choke out, my voice low and earthy.
“I told you about my dream last night, didn’t I? You need to be careful, Silverstone, this bastard sure has a lot of nerves.”
Klein was quiet, his face cold and that made me uncomfortable.
“Klein…” I held his hands, closing the distance between us.
“About earlier today, I was.”
“It’s fine my darling, I trust you completely. Anything you say is what I’ll believe. I love you.” His calm voice retorted as he stared at me, a soft smile playing on his lips.
“I actually went on a date with him today, but…”
“What?!” Maria yelled, her brown wolf eyes shone brightly.
“I could barely survive talking to him for a minute and you went on a date with him? How did you do that?” She asked, her brows furrowed in disbelief.
“Stop teasing Maria, I’m being serious” She kept quiet, making a weird face.
“I only agreed to go on that date to try and gather more evidence against him but I ended up regretting it.” I explained, my voice shaky.
“I understand you perfectly, you just need to be careful. We don’t know what he might be up to and we can’t afford to trust Lisa either.” Klein finally voiced out after a while of watching Maria and talked about the date.
“Yes Klein, you’re right.”
“Look Silverstone, I’m not sure what you’re up to. But you sure need to be careful. I won’t be here to save you everytime you
know.”
“I” I started, but was interrupted by a knock on the door and I immediately took cover.
