Chapter 33
Silverstone’s pov
UM
“This is for James,” I snarled into his ear as I ripped out his heart.
The battle was ending.
Hundreds of Viktor’s pack lay dead, and a larger number wounded. The rest had submitted, bellies exposed in surrender.
We were victorious.
My packs had suffered injuries, but none fatal. The difference was in the motive behind our fight. We were fighting for vengeance.
Just as I was secretly fighting jared.
I shifted back to my human and the others joined me. My long brown hair, stained with red blood. I looked at the survivors of Viktor’s pack
“Who ordered the hit on James?”
I asked authoritatively.
One of them, a young wolf probably recruited for his strength, broke immediately.
“The Northern Alliance! They wanted to stop at peace talks. Said taking out a powerful Beta would start a territory war!”
He explained, his voice raspy.
–
My eyes flashed with a new fury. The Northern Alliance a coalition of packs who believed in wolf supreme. Of course they would want to derail peace talks between packs and Humans.
But they ordered for the wrong wolf.
“Bind the survivors!” I ordered my pack..
“They will face justice for breaking our laws.” My gaze swept over my injured victorious family.
“And then..then we go north.”
Everyone involved in his death had to pay, one way or the other,
Now or later,
As we secured our new prisoners, I lifted my head to the blood moon. We had avenged James against his direct killers, but the true architects of his death were still alive.
But that won’t be for long.
The hunt will continue another day, when they all sleep.
We led songs of victory as we matched home, the pack had gotten a part of their revenge, the air was filled with chants and loud howls, I was happy. And so were my pack members.

Chapter 33
But even with victory, there was still a lot of darkness lurking in the pack – like Lisa’s involvement with Jared and why she
was in my room.
After the fearsome battle with the Blackwood pack, I needed to have a proper hair wash as my hair carried traces of forest debris that had that unmistakable wild scent that other wolves would recognize instantly.
Plus traces of Viktor’s blood.
I headed straight to the salon, it’s been so long since I had someone do my hair. It was either I or Serena that did the washing, but this time I wanted a professional touch
I adjusted my purse strap as I walked down Madison Avenue, desperately needing to get to the salon.
Serena had borrowed my car to only god knows where, despite having her own car she still prefers to use mine.
The Corbert Cafe was just ahead, and my stomach growled, transformations always left me ravenous,
Made worse by the fact that last night’s transformation wasn’t just the regular.
As I reached for the cafe’s door handle, a familiar laugh made me pause. Through the window, I spotted Jared and a female Werewolf but I couldn’t properly see her as she was backing me,
They were sitting at a corner table, Jared was leaning forward, completely absorbed in a conversation with the lady.
Her neatly tied ponytail and scent made me realize who it was.
It was Lisa Jared’s sister..
She seemed to have hid my advice of bonding with her brother.
As I turned to leave. I noticed that Jared had a bag beside him, it looked like the same bag Klein described earlier. The one that that lady that stole that scandal he saw was carrying,
I watched them from afar, patiently waiting for him to open the bag but he never did. I thought of walking up to them and opening the bag myself, but I held myself from doing that.
I didn’t want to disrespect him like that.
A lot of things ran through my mind, this might be my only chance of finding out the truth.
Jared was too smart, he might move the bag away.
As I watched them from afar, battling with my thoughts. An idea struck my mind.
“Put a call across to Klein, he might be able to identify the bag.”
I immediately reached out for my phone and dialed Klein’s number but it wasn’t connecting.
He was on another call
Jared and Lisa seemed to be almost done with their conversation, it looked like they would leave any time soon.
After several failed attempts, Klein finally took the call
“Klein, where are you?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.

Chapter 33
“I’m not so far from the pack, I’ve got news, Silverstone. You’re right about Jared, he…”
“Can you come to Madison Avenue? I need to show you something urgently.” I cut him off, my voice earthy.
“Sure. I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”
“That’s too long Klein, we don’t have that much time.” I took a deep breath, trying to ease the tension in my voice.
“Five minutes. can you be here in five minutes?!”
“I.. I’ll see to that. Don’t worry, my love, I’ll be there soon. Just stay safe.”
Their conversation got even deeper, some things didn’t seem right to me. Especially Jared’s hand placement, the way he kept touching her and she was very comfortable around him.
She didn’t seem uncomfortable around him, to me it was too much for someone he claimed to be his sister.
I listened closely, trying to figure out what Jared was saying but his voice was low. Too low for someone that usually is very loud.
Just then Klein arrived, he came with his friend’s car, he had taken it to the mechanic. He looked at the bag, his jaw dropped visibly
“Holy crap! That’s the same bag that she has. I’m very sure.” His deep voice retorted. I was scared for a while.
Things were getting shady at this point, the bag, his hand placement around Lisa, how his very loud voice suddenly became really calm.
Something was really fishy, I need to find out.
