Chapter 56
Noelle and Liam met at a private restaurant.
Despite having lived in Coppersville for a few years, Noelle never would’ve known that such a place existed if Liam hadn’t brought her there that day.
The restaurant was tucked away on the border between the orban and rural areas of Coppersville. It featured white walls, black tiles, lotus ponds, and bamboo groves. At first glance, Noelle mistook this place for a scenic garden rather than a restaurant.
The owner of the restaurant was a young woman whose appearance was unremarkable, but she exuded grace and spoke with elegance.
It seemed that Liam had made all the arrangements beforehand. Without even taking their order, the woman simply served them coffee and left the room.
“Their ingredients are all prepared fresh daily. So, I had to pre–order the dishes yesterday. I hope that’s okay,” Liam explained with a gentle smile.
One wouldn’t be able to tell from his face that he was annoyed with Noelle for losing contact with him two days earlier.
Noelle shook her head. “It’s fine.”
Liam poured her a cup of coffee. “This coffee is their house specialty. The beans were grown on a plantation owned by the owner’s grandfather. You can’t buy this outside.”
“I see,” Noelle replied absent–mindedly. She sipped the coffee, unable to fully enjoy how good it was.
Liam continued to talk about light–hearted topics–from movies to music and to food. His tone was steady, and the conversation was engaging enough to keep Noelle’s mind occupied.
In truth, she enjoyed spending time with him, and she couldn’t understand why he was still single. Despite his imperfections, he had a prominent background, and marriage wouldn’t be a challenge for him if he wanted it.
“Actually, I’ve seen you before,” Liam suddenly said.
Noelle blinked in surprise.
“I think it was about two years ago. I visited Coppersville University, and you were performing a play with your classmates. I was in the audience.”
“Romeo and Juliet?”
“Yes.” Liam smiled. “You still remember?”
“I’ve only performed on stage in university that one time.” Noelle’s brows furrowed slightly. “But that time, I…. didn’t even have any lines, did I?”
“You didn’t, but I still noticed you. You were stunning,” Liam said with a bright smile.
His unexpected compliment caught Noelle off guard. She had assumed their relationship was just a matter of family alliance. But now, it seemed there might be more to it than she had expected.
Liam was about to say more when the restaurant owner’s voice suddenly rang out from the entrance, “Mr. Freeman, welcome!”
Noelle immediately turned her head toward the door, only to see the cheerful owner leading a man over.
He was dressed in a black suit paired with a white shirt mple yet classic combination of colors. The outfit amplified his dignified presence, and combined with his strikingly handsome face, he drew the attention of
everyone around
Soon, his gaze landed on Noelle. She froze, quickly averting her eyes and lowering her gaze.
