Noelle knew she shouldn’t have said anything. Hendrix was clearly angry, and as soon as she spoke, it was like she became a target for his frustration. It wasn’t even her business to begin with, so when Hendrix said that, Noelle chose to remain quiet.

As they spoke, the car had already been driven a good distance, but as soon as Noelle finished speaking, Hendrix slammed on the brakes.
Though Noelle had her seatbelt on, the car was moving too fast, and she was jerked forward violently by the sudden stop before bouncing back into her seat.
The back of her head hit the leather headrest, but it didn’t hurt. Still, Noelle furrowed her brows and turned to look at Hendrix.
Hendrix also looked at her. “What do you mean by it’s my family’s matter? Aren’t you my wife?”
“Okay”
“Okay?” Hendrix was triggered by her response.
But just now, she had subtly mocked Nathan at the dining table and even reminded him over the phone to brace himself.
Thinking of this, Hendrix managed to suppress his anger and spoke again, “You don’t have to worry about Mom. That bastard came back, and I don’t even know how happy she is about it.”
Noelle was momentarily stunned by Hendrix’s words.
But Hendrix didn’t look at her again, his gaze fixed on the road ahead.

Hendrix seemed lost in thought, his deep eyes clouded with something darker as he spoke, “What did you think? She’s been living in Freeman Manor all this time. How could Ophelia’s plans be unknown to her?
“She didn’t stop it, and she didn’t even inform me. That means she actually wants to see this happen. In other words, she also hopes that bastard comes back.”
As Hendrix spoke, he couldn’t help but let out a laugh. When he turned his head, he found Noelle looking at him.
Her gaze even held a trace of… sympathy.
