Chapter 11
“Where the fuck is he?!” he turned to me, seeking answers.
Debbie reached out to him and attempted to calm him down. “She’s lying, Alpha. I would never cheat on you. I am your Luna.”
But Tyler answered her with a slap. And before she could stop him, he’d already attacked Alex in the hallway and shove him with enough force to send him crashing into a heavy wooden table. Plates shattered on the stone floor, goblets rolled in different directions, and the gasps of onlookers filled the room.
“You betrayed me, you lying bastard!” Alpha Tyler’s furious roar echoed through the great hall.
Alex groaned, wiping the blood from his lip. His dark eyes burned with a mixture of anger and betrayal. “And you think you’re any better?” he spat, shoving himself up. “You rejected your real mate, Tyler. You threw her away like trash! And now you want to act righteous?
Alpha Tyler’s face twisted in fury. With a growl, he lunged, his fist connecting with Alex’s jaw with a sickening crack. The impact sent Alex stumbling, but he barely hesitated before retaliating. He rammed his shoulder into Tyler’s stomach, tackling him to the floor.
The room erupted in chaos. The two men rolled, fists flying, grunts and growls filling the air.
Blood smeared across the stone as Tyler landed a vicious punch to Alex’s ribs. “You slept with Debbie!” he bellowed, his voice thick with rage.
Alex let out a bitter laugh, even as he spit out blood. “She came to me!” He swung his fist, snapping Alpha Tyler’s head back. “You think she was ever loyal to you?”
I tilted my head, intrigued.
A sharp scream pierced the air. “Stop it!” Debbie shrieked, her voice raw, desperate.
She stumbled forward, her perfect appearance now a mess—her eyes wild, her blonde curls tangled. “Tyler, you need me! You’ll never be free of me! We were meant to rule together!”
Alpha Tyler shoved Alex off him and stood, his chest heaving. His once-beloved Luna was now nothing more than an inconvenience to him.
His gaze was cold, filled with disgust. “Meant to rule?” he scoffed, his voice dripping with venom. “You were nothing more than a leech sucking power from me.”
Debbie flinched as if he had struck her. Her lips trembled, her hands clenched into fists. “That’s not true,” she whispered, shaking her head violently. “You love me! You chose me!”
I let out a quiet, mocking laugh. Debbie’s head snapped toward me, her eyes blazing.
“Karma’s a bitch, isn’t it?” I murmured, tilting my head slightly, watching her crumble.
She turned on me fully, her body shaking with rage. “You,” she hissed like a venomous snake. “This is all your fault.”
I arched a brow, unbothered. “Really? I thought it was because you spread your legs for my brother.”
Gasps rippled through the room.
Debbie’s face twisted in fury, her breath coming out in ragged bursts. “I will not let you take this from me! I built this pack with Tyler, not you! I suffered for this position!”
Tyler let out a dark chuckle. His eyes glowed with something dangerous. “You made sure Aurora suffered. You humiliated her, belittled her, and you enjoyed every second of it.”
Debbie turned back to him, her eyes pleading. “But I love you,” she whispered, her voice breaking.
Tyler’s face remained expressionless, void of warmth. “I don’t.”
Silence fell.
Debbie’s lips parted, her breathing uneven. Then, slowly, her sorrow twisted into something darker.
“No,” she muttered, shaking her head. “No, no, no, no.”
I sighed, bored. This was entertaining, but I had no interest in witnessing her breakdown.
“Well, this has been fun,” I drawled, turning toward the door. “But I have better things to do than watch a man-child and a snake fight over a throne that doesn’t even matter to me.”
I had barely taken a step before Tyler grabbed my wrist.
“You’re not leaving.”
I stilled. A familiar heat spread across my skin where his fingers touched, but I shoved it down, refusing to acknowledge it. I turned my head slowly, my gaze sharp as a blade.
“Let me go,” I said quietly, my voice dangerous.
His grip tightened. “Stay.”
I let out a cold laugh. “And why would I do that?” I leaned closer, my eyes burning into his. “You have nothing to offer me anymore.”
For the first time, I saw something flicker in Tyler’s gaze—regret.
His fingers twitched before he finally let go. His jaw clenched, his throat working as if swallowing something bitter. “I made a mistake,” he admitted, voice rough. “Rejecting you was the worst thing I’ve ever done.”
I tilted my head, watching him closely.
Then, I stepped forward, closing the distance between us. He tensed, but I only leaned in, my lips brushing his ear as I whispered, “And yet, it’s the one mistake I’ll never let you take back.”
I turned and walked toward the door.
Then, everything happened at once.
A flash of silver. A sharp intake of breath.
Debbie lunged.
The dagger in her hand gleamed under the torchlight, aimed straight for me.
Tyler’s eyes widened. “Aurora!” he shouted.
The room erupted into chaos.
I spun around just as Debbie’s blade came slashing toward me.
