Chapter 35
“Samantha!” Elise stopped Samantha who was about to leave.
At this point, Elise was no longer the focus of the crowd because Samantha had taken away all her limelight.
Even her own father, Darius, no longer stayed by her side. Instead, he went to drink with his friends.
Her mother, Lucille, also hurriedly went to explain things to the Baxter family.
After all, Elise played the piano before Samantha.
When compared, everyone could tell that Samantha was much better than Elise in terms of piano talent.
However, Elise was the only one who had been recognized as the title of piano prodigy.
Meanwhile, what Samantha had always been carrying was the reputation of being tactless and unknowledgeable, vulgar, and getting pregnant before marriage.
Fortunately, the undeniable truth was that Elise won first place in the piano competition and received praise from Jovani. The situation was not too embarrassing because of Lucille’s intervention.
However, at this moment, there was no one as eager as before to please and flatter her.
After all, there were rumors earlier that Jovani would attend, but now, as the banquet was nearing its end, he was still nowhere to be found.
Some people also raised doubts about whether Jovani would really accept her as the last mentee.
Elise bit her lips as she listened to the whispering conversation nearby. She forcefully suppressed the resentment in her heart. After that, she picked up the two glasses of wine that Timothy had intentionally put beside her and walked over to Samantha
She offered the wine glass in her left hand to Samantha. “Samantha, I let you steal all the limelight today. Shouldn’t you have a drink with me?”
Samantha smiled as she stared at the wine glass in Elise’s left hand.
Elise’s left hand trembled slightly, causing the glass of wine to sway gently.
Samantha looked up at Elise again.
The beauty mark in the corner of her left eye seemed to emit a hint of a sinister presence.
Elise felt a chill running down her back. Her gaze lowered with a hint of grievance as she said, “Samantha, today is my birthday. Don’t you want to have a drink with me?”
Samantha smirked. “Okay, but…”
She lowered her voice. Her tone seemed to possess a mesmerizing power. “I want the one in your right hand.”
Elise trembled and almost lost her balance. “Samantha, both glasses of wine are the same.”
“Since they’re the same, what’s the issue with me drinking the one in your right hand?” Elise lowered her eyes, and a murderous look flashed in her gaze.
She thought, It is getting harder to fool Samantha!

Nonetheless, she still can’t outplay me.
Even if she wanted the glass in my right hand, I can instantly slip the drug hidden in my fingernail into it!
Even if the drug had already dissolved in the glass in my left hand, and I have no choice but to drink it, I could take the antidote immediately.
As for Samantha, she can only wait for the tragedy from six years ago to repeat itself!”
However, just as Elise was about to slip something into the drink, Samantha suddenly said, “Never mind. I’ll take the one in your left hand.”
Elise was stunned. Seeing that Samantha didn’t seem to be pretending. Elise breathed a sigh of relief again.
Elise mused. “This idiot doesn’t seem to have noticed anything. She is simply intentionally trying to oppose me.”
Elise smiled and handed the glass to Samantha, and they toasted “Cheers
Samantha said with a faint smile, “Cheers. Happy birthday to you…”
Somehow, Elise sensed that Samantha intentionally emphasized her tone.
It sounded particularly awkward, but she couldn’t quite grasp what was peculiar about it.
Fortunately, Samantha lifted her head and downed the drink in one go.
Elise let go of the fleeting suspicion that had suddenly surfaced in her mind and smiled with satisfaction. “After drinking this glass of wine, I’ll see how you’ll continue your arrogance, Elise thought to herself.
On the other side, Francis and Gideon witnessed the scene.
“Did you switch the glasses beforehand?” Gideon raised his eyebrows and asked.
Francis nodded and looked at Gideon contemptuously. “Yes. I’ll protect my woman.”
After saying that, Francis left.
Gideon chuckled softly as he played with the emerald ring in his hand.
He pondered, “However, there are certain things that people like you, who walk in the light, would never do. Let me, someone who already dwells in darkness, handle them. Since my hands have already been stained with blood, I’m not afraid of continuing to commit wicked deeds.” Since it had been covered with blood, he was not afraid of continuing to do evil.
He gestured to his sidekick, Bradley, who immediately came over.
“Go and throw Elise into the room she prepared for Samantha, Gideon said.
“Yes, boss, Bradley immediately answered respectfully.
Gideon twirled his emerald ring and said in a sinister tone, “Remember to record everything.”
Bradley was at a loss for words.
That was too r
ruthless!
Tonight, Mollie and Elise would lose the most precious things a girl could have.
He didn’t understand why Gideon targeted Mollie previously. Now he finally grasped the situation with Elise in the picture.

Their typically cold and heartless boss was shielding someone for the first time.
And it was a woman.
He began to wonder if Gideon had fallen in love.
However, he didn’t really have high hopes for Samantha becoming Gideon’s wife.
After all, Gideon was so cruel and vigorous that only a woman with equal capabilities and worldly experience could be
worthy of him.
Samantha didn’t seem to have any other strengths apart from having some piano skills.
It was rumored that she had even given birth to a child..
“Forget it. She’s truly not up to our boss‘ standards, Bradley said to himself.
It seemed he’d have to think of a way to subtly or inadvertently remind Gideon.
After all, they had built their hard–earned success and survived on the edge of a knife for so many years. They couldn’t let it go to waste like this.
As Francis walked out of the hotel, Samantha and her two children were already in the minivan waiting for him.
When he got into the car, Yarris immediately called out, “Boss.”
Francis nodded gently in response. “Let’s take them back to the Johansson residence first.”
Yarris started the engine and couldn’t help but glance back through the rearview mirror.
He thought to himself, “According to Mr. Yates, Francis wanted me to call Ms. Johansson Mrs. Gurray
Today, Francis also asked Yarris to create public opinion for Samantha and invade someone’s phone to obtain a video of her playing the piano. Not only did Yarris drug and knock out Timothy, but he also switched the contents of the two glasses of wine that were meant to harm Samantha.
Yarris had been with Francis for over 20 years, and it was the first time he had seen the latter protect a woman like this.
He couldn’t help but curiously observe Samantha through the rearview mirror.
It was undeniable that she was incredibly attractive.
“Yarris, don’t you want your eyes anymore?” A chilly voice came through. Yarris’s hand holding the steering wheel shook and almost caused the minivan to drift.
He took a deep breath, tried to suppress his emotions, and focused on driving.
In the minivan, Isaac and Ryland deliberately occupied the front seats, leaving the back row to Erancis and Samantha. Samantha, who had been closing her eyes all the time, opened her lips slightly and said in a hoarse voice, “Thank you.” Thank me for what?” Francis asked knowingly.
Samantha opened her eyes and turned to look at him. “Thank you for swapping the wine glasses.”
Francis smiled slightly. “Actually, I’m really curious. Since you managed to detect the trap in the wine glass today, why did you fall into the same trup six years ago?
He couldn’t help rubbing the scar on his left index finger.

It was a habitual gesture he made when his emotions were fluctuating greatly.
For example, when he was overly anxious or anticipating something.
Samantha turned to look at him and felt that his eyes were unusually profound as if they were veiled in mist.
She suddenly flashed a smile, and the beauty mark in her left eye emitted a coquettish aura. Moving closer to him, she whispered, “Because I desire you.”
