“I understand why Xavion gave me a heads–up. You’re not someone to be taken lightly nowadays. He even told me to try to be more respectful toward you”
With a smirk, Samantha responded, “You couldn’t have said it any better.”
Ayla was a bit taken aback by Samantha’s response and did not respond. She then wondered, “Where did our strong sisterhood go
After around 20 minutes, the car pulled into an underground parking lot of a mall.
However, Xyla had trouble backing up and could not park the car properly.
Upon seeing that. Samantha grew impatient and pressed on her temple before speaking as gently as possible. “Why don’t you get out, and I’ll take care of the parking?”
f
“Huh? You know how to do reverse parking?” Xyla questioned.
“Do you expect me to wait until you finally park?” Samantha sarcastically remarked.
After hearing Samantha’s remark, Xyla then awkwardly touched her nose before getting out of the car and giving up the driver’s seat to the former.
Even though Xyla knew that Samantha was just as equally not skilled in reverse parking, she still decided to resort to desperate measures at that desperate time.
Xyla pondered, “Since I can’t reverse park properly anyway, I might as well let Samantha try it. What if, against all odds, she might be able to park the car? Regardless, as long as nobody gets hurt, she can do whatever she pleases.”
That had been the rule that Xyla lived by
But then, Xyla, who had not given Samantha’s reverse parking much thought at first, was instantly shocked and stared directly at the latter.
“There’s no way I can’t believe it. Did she reverse–park it like it was nothing? And it’s perfectly aligned–absolutely job well done, too,” Xyla commented inwardly. She then wondered, “How is this possible? She instantly excels at playing the piano and effortlessly nails such challenging reverse parking. Didn’t we promise to be committed, hedonists? Yet, she has become so outstanding behind my back.”
Xyla instantly felt a surge of conflicting emotions.
Tm hungry now, What are we going to eat?”
Xyla was then jolted back to reality by Samantha’s question. “Let’s grab some barbecue, your all–time favorite.
Following that, they hopped on the elevator and went up to the fourth floor.
They walked into the barbecue joint that used to be Xyla’s and Samantha’s favorite. They immediately ordered the nine different flavours of barbecue dishes, the kind of mind–blowing spiciness that could knock someone out.
“Samantha Xyla exclaimed with excitement as she looked at Samantha “In the past few years, my parents have become extremely cautious because of what happened to you. They sent me abroad and enrolled me in a diploma mill university, where I had to attend daily classes. They even assigned someone to monitor me, threatening to freeze my bank account if I didn’t follow their rules, which made it difficult for me to reach out to you. How have you been all these years?”
“Nothing remarkable for me, Samantha said before popping a beef slice into her mouth.

Xyla could not help but notice that Samantha’s entire demeanor had changed, with even the way she ate the beef slice exuding an air of dashing charisma

“What about now? Have your stepmother and the rest treated you well after you reunited with the Johansson family?” Xyla questioned.
Samantha arched an eyebrow and locked eyes with her. “Didn’t Xavion fill you in? They couldn’t bully me anymore, not with the way I am now, Samantha said with a demeanor that appeared nonchalant yet rebellious.
Xyla opened her mouth, intending to say something, but suddenly, a thought occurred.
Xyla pondered, “In the past, we would pretend to be spoiled and privileged, but we were always being bullied–particularly Samantha, who suffered greatly from the suppression of her stepmother and stepsister at home. But now, I’ve heard that ” Samantha went through a few challenging years outside. Somehow, that transformed her into a real hedonist? Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around, that enduring hardships would make someone more not willing to become hedonistic?”
A glimmer of anticipation sparked within Xyla, and she contemplated, “What if I tried living through some challenging times as well?”
Xyla brushed off her thoughts and asked, “How did your exams go? Do you feel confident about getting into university? If not, maybe can arrange a tutor to help you.”
“It’s fine. I can manage without any tutoring.”
“Okay, I’ll leave it at that. After all, for someone hedonistic like us, whether we go to university or not doesn’t make much of a difference.”
Xyla assumed that Samantha going to sit for SAT was another one of her playful antics.
However, when Xyla eventually found out about Samantha’s SAT scores, it felt like a blow to her pride.
After that, Xyla put aside that matter and did not dwell on it further.
Right after Xyla and Samantha finished their barbecue feast, they headed off to shop.
Xyla guided Samantha straight to a luxurious brand store.
Noticing Xyla’s high–end attire, the perceptive salesperson quickly attended to the former, completely overlooking Samantha and her mass–market brand.
“Samantha, take a look at this dress. I think it would be perfect for you.” Xyla held a bright red dress, showing it to Samantha. Samantha immediately pulled the price tag to take a look. “It’s too pricey. I’m short on cash, and I can’t afford it.”
The salesperson rolled their eyes upon hearing Samantha’s response.
