Chapter 41
“What are you rolling your eyes for?” Nyla noticed the disdainful look on the salesperson and promptly scolded them in
anger.
As hedonistic individuals, they had to have a temper when out and about, and it should be the kind of irrational temper.
The salesperson then quickly explained. “I’m sorry, miss. I was trying to say that if you find this one too expensive, you can consider our discounted options. However, the lowest price for the discounted items starts at 2,000 dollars.”
“Unbelievable! Do you expect me to purchase a discounted last–season item?” Xyla angrily threw the dress and yelled, “Where is your store manager? Get them out here!”
Samantha was stunned as she observed Xyla’s outburst and silently mused, “Such fiery temperament! I like it! Birds of a feather do indeed flock together.”
The female salesperson panicked upon hearing Xyla’s request to speak with the store manager. “Miss, that’s not what I intended. I was trying to offer you a slightly less expensive alternative since you’ve mentioned this one was too expensive.”
“We were being polite–couldn’t you tell?” Xyla glared at the female salesperson. “I don’t care! I’m demanding your store manager to come out today. Otherwise, I won’t leave until I’ve wrecked your store!”
The female salesperson was in a state of panic upon hearing Xyla’s intention to wreck the store and thought, “Is this female ruffian purposely causing trouble and trying to stage a scene?”
Well, well, well! Who do we have here! I was just wondering who got such a gall to want to wreck a store. Didn’t expect you, our little Ms. Xavier
Kaylin’s voice echoed as she emerged from the fitting room, and she was smirking at Xyla. Yet, as her gaze fell upon Samantha by Xyla’s side, she was instantly taken aback.
Immediately, Kaylin’s mind replayed the scenes with Mollie she had glimpsed at the hospital the day before and the moments she had had with Elise at the Johansson residence.
Mollie and Elise were both more miserable than the other.
Although Elise had an unexpected encounter with Kaylin’s brother, Timothy, the latter had been in love with Elise all along. However, Elise’s heart belonged to Keanu, and she was already engaged to him.
At that critical moment, Elise’s loss of innocence had a devastating blow to her. These past few days, she isolated herself in the Johansson residence, feeling detached and unwilling to speak to anybody.
Meanwhile, Mollie had it even worse. She was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit. It was said that her internal organs had completely deteriorated.
With all that had happened, Kaylin could not help but suspect that Samantha was behind it all.
However, Kaylin could not comprehend it and wondered, “Where did Samantha get the influence to pull off all of this? They say she’s been in the countryside all these years and has never been anywhere. Could she have become the mistress of some big shot?”
Kaylin clenched her fist, and the thought of Elise and Mollie made her want to tear Samantha apart.
Despite not knowing whether Samantha was responsible or not, Kaylin was determined to make her accountable and suffer the consequences!
Kaylin went to the salesperson and snatched the red dress from her without hesitation.

Til take this dress. Price is not an issue for me!”
The salesperson promptly turned obsequious and responded, “Absolutely, Ms. Xanders. I’ll wrap it up for you right away.”
“Hold on a minute now!” Xyla gave Kaylin a disdainful look and retorted, “We saw this dress first. What gives you the right to
have it?”
With a sneer, Kaylin remarked. “It’s because I have the money and don’t mind the price–unlike you both, who are penniless and poor
Xyla’s face turned red as she exclaimed in exasperation, “You!”
A chilly voice spoke up, saying, “What are you going to do about making my friend angry?”
Kaylin’s gaze shifted to Samantha as she spoke out of the blue.
Samantha’s eyes appeared cold, and her tone had an unsettling strangeness.
Thoughts raced through Kaylin’s mind, questioning. “Was that some warning? A threat, perhaps?”
Kaylin
was seething with anger as the thought went over and over in her mind.
Inwardly, Kaylin boldly stated, “I, the esteemed daughter of the Xanders family, will not let myself be intimidated by a woman like you who was kicked out of the house for getting pregnant before marriage!”
Kaylin taunted, “It’s my talent to irritate her and get a rise out of her
Samantha questioned, “Don’t you think you’ll regret what you’ve just done and said?”
Kaylin replied with a stammer, “O–Of course, I’m not going to…
However, before Kaylin could utter the words of regret, Samantha suddenly struck her with an unexpected slap. The resounding smack echoed through the air, startling everyone, including the store owner, who had hurriedly arrived. In just seconds, Samantha had nonchalantly squeezed her fingers and commented, “Being able to slap you is also one of my talents, too. It’s just that your thick shameless skin doesn’t feel pleasant on my palm, but it sure makes me feel satisfied.”
