Chapter 40
Eden’s POV
The birds sing choruses in my ears as 1 take a step one after another down the street in a faint of the dark.
The sound of moving car wheels and sirens with no one on the street made me edgy as I walked alone and my speed increased at every unusual sound.
I turned back and looked around occasionally thinking I heard the sound of approaching footsteps.
I quickly opened my apartment door with my heart drumming fast and hard against my chest.
Ughhh..I let out an audible sigh of relief and leaned my back to the door from inside.
1 locked the door and sat on the couch.
It then dawned on me that Hunter should be back to the penthouse by now I have to call him.
I dialed his number thrice and it wasn’t connecting, something that has never happened before.
I was trapped in–between the feeling of excitement and an uneasy feeling of abandonment.
Is he telling me that he doesn’t need me anymore? Or I’m just a toy he plays with?.
Just when I have decided to choose him over all others and this happened.
Were you thinking he will leave his rich and classy fiancee over a common assistant like you? The most reasoning part of me questioned.
The love he professes for were mere empty words, he never meant everything he said.
“You should have known better, Eden, than a display of foolishness” I whispered to myself.
“You should have known that no human will choose love over fame and money,”
Nobody chooses a nobody over somebody.
Hmmm…
“Eden, you life is messed up,
Snatched from my self thought by the sound of my phone’s ringtone.
It was Sam calling.
“Hey Eden, it is the weekend, what are you up to?”
“Nothing. I’m just home alone,”
“What do you think about clubbing tonight?”
I thought for a while, why will I stay here alone and wallow in my pains? A little fun will not kill me, rather who knows I could feel better afterwards, I thought.
“It’s late already, what club opens by this time?”
“Hey it just past nine pm, and most clubbing hasn’t started yet because it’s still morning,”

Chapter 401
“Wow, really you mean it’s morning in clubs?”
“Why are you
acting uncivilized, haven’t you been to a club before?”
ני
“I have been to club, it’s just that it feels like I haven’t been to clubs forever, I have forgotten how things happened there,”
“Don’t worry you are in safe hands I will and for the night you are going to be my assistant then by Monday I will resume being your assistant,” she teased.
“Yes boss, I’m in for clubbing to night,”
“I will be at your your gate in twenty minutes,”
I went into the bathroom and freshened up, I picked out a dress that I have not worn for ages with hopes that it fits one.
I put on the high above the knee burnt orange gown with a deep back opening and tit revealing neck.
Though it feels a little bit tight and revealing, it is the perfect dress for the season.
I beautifully arranged my hair to fit in the occasion and applied a faint makeup
I sprayed perfume, like a whole lot of them on, and fit my feet into a white spotless heels.
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, I picked my phone and dialed Hunter’s number again but still the same story.
“You cannot be treated as a second option or some kind of toy to be played with at will by a man, you’re worth more than being a standby option.”
“You deserve to be a priority,” I whispered into the mirror.
“You have standards, don’t compromise it,”
“You are beautiful,”
“You are unique.”
“You are bold,”
I read those lines loudly to my hearing pointing at my image in the mirror.
The doubting part of myself came asking.
“Are you sure those words are true? the sounds more like the opposite of you,”
I shook my head in disagreement and chose to believe those anyway even if they were lies.
The doorbell rang.
“That must be Sam,” I muttered and picked my purse.
“Hey you.”
Wow!
Wow!
Wow!

Chapter 40
“You look amazingly gorgeous girlie,” her eyes wide open..
“Are you sure, I mean I could change to something more better and decent,”
“No no no, there wouldn’t be any more better or more decent dress that the one you’re in, if fits in perfectly,”
“And the color…uhhh breathtaking.”

“Enough with the hypes ma’am, before I will put my past, present and future assets to your name,” we both laughed.
“Please while writing the will don’t forget to will Hunter and Trevor too,” she blink her left eye and bit her upper lip gently.
“Shall we?”
“Yes ma’am, we shall
We got into the car and in no time we arrived at the city’s club.
The rhythm of the music was so pleasing to my hearing.
“Hmmm that DJ is a top notch,” I whispered into Sam’s car.
“You like?”
“I love girl,”
There were so many people there, all excited as though their lives were without problems
After all, maybe I’m the only one with problems and I have come to get over it like everyone here and be happy.
“What will you like for a drink,”
“Something in–between hard and soft will do,”
“I know the perfect drink to bring,” the bar man said.
Sam had told him what she needed, he left and returned with the drinks
“Here’s yours ma’am,” he kept a bottle and glass in front of me.
“Thank you,”
“You’re welcome ma’am,”
He opened the bottle and poured some of the wine into the glass cup.
“It’s okay, you can live it like that,”
I sipped the drink.
“This is perfect, you know well,” I gave the bar man a thumbs up.
The count of empty bottles goes high as time passes.
The rhythm of the hip hop music melodiously walked their way through every fiber in me and the urge to shake my body came strongly on me.
I stood up with a glass in my hand and began to motion my waist to the rhythm of the music.

Chapter 40
It was a night of dance drink, dance drink.
As time passed and the night became darker, I got so comfortable and danced more freely with people.
The weekend was a fun filled one with Sam and her fun self.
We both resumed office on Monday at eight am with happiness swelling up in me that words that cannot describe.
My mood was so bright, maybe after all all I needed was a little break and a fun–filled weekend.
“You’re blooming girlie,
“You know I’m your boss here, so let’s be official,” I said jokingly
“Okay boss, what would you like me to do?” she said, covering her mouth with her palm, preventing her laughter.
We both laughed and headed to our seats,
“Good moming sir,”
