Chapter 58
Hunter’s POV
“I love you, she said while standing.
My heart rejoices at the sound of those words.
I stood up and went closer to where she was standing.
“But,”
My stomach churned and my palmis became sweaty as I listened to her speak. Her voice entangled with affection, desire and above all fear,
1 leaned to the edge of the desk beside her words into my heart, in the heft of what I feel for her, rejection is the one thing I
didn’t think of.
I felt like the earth underneath was rejecting my legs, my knees went cold and began to shiver with every word that came out of her mouth.
I tried to lock my gaze into hers but she avoided it.
The one woman I have ever loved is standing in front of me, looking at me right in the face to tell me to forget about her because she doesn’t want to be selfish, she chose to give up on us and what we share for other people’s happiness.
Is that how love works? It doesn’t consider the other partner’s feelings? It just walks away when things get serious and tense?
I have seen in so many movies where love fights all odds and wins, why is my case different? Or don’t I worth fighting for? A million questions marathoned in my head.
So many thoughts ran in my head as I quietly listened to her.
Did you consider me while making this decision of yours?”
“Yes I did, you will be fine,”
“I will be fine, how can I be fine without the one woman who brings so much happiness and peace to my life by my side?“1 managed to ask with a crack that I tried to avoid in my voice.
I tried to convince her that we can fight for our love, the most important thing is that we love each other.
But she’s bent on giving up on us, thinking that it is the best for us, but in my ears it sounds nothing close to being the best choice.
She turned to walk away when I cuddled her wrist with my fingers into my palm
“No, you cannot make decisions for the both of us without consulting me,”
“This is my decision and it’s final, just go ahead with your wedding plans,”
Her words pierced my heart, she pulled her wrist from my heart and walked out.
I stared at her, after a few seconds of walking she stood still at the door, a sense of calm was settling on me as I stared at her standing
I hoped that she had a change of mind but after a few seconds of standing she walked away and Sam walked in.

Chapter 58
Emotions welled up in my heart.
“Hello sir, here is the file you asked for,” she said, dropping the file beside me on the desk.
“Sir, is everything okay?”
“Yes. Sam I’m fine, I muttered to her.
“Okay, enjoy the rest of the day.”
“Thank you.”
She walked out of the space and left me all alone in the depth of my despair.
The space became very hot and unpleasant for me to stay in. I picked up my phone and left the office.
On my way out. I stopped on the walkway and time seemed to stop moving as my gaze locked on Eden who was walking worry less as it seemed to the restroom.
My heart pounded heavily and faster than normal as I watched her fade from my sight.
I furiously walked out of the office complex,to the parking lot.
“The keys.” I opened my left palm towards the driver.
“Sir,
“The keys,” I yelled so loud that my voice echoed in my head.
He handed over the keys to me with his hand shivering
I opened the car and slammed the door after me.
I rode the car out of the complex with no clue of where to go, so I randomly choose a direction to go.
After a few rides with a lot in my head, I stopped the car at a bar and went in.
Alcohol at this point might be the only true lover I have that will go through thick and thin with
The bar was almost empty of people, maybe because it’s still working hours.
I snapped my finger at the bar attendant.
“Something strong please,”
Suddenly, my phone began to vibrate in my pocket, I picked it out instantly without checking the caller ID i answered the call and positioned the phone on my ear
“Hello bro,”
The waiter was still standing staring at me.
“Something strong,” I said angrily.
“Yo! Bro, you sound angry,” he said at the other end of the call.
“Wassup buddy,”
“Where are you? You don’t sound like you’re in the office,”

“Tm in a bar,”
“In a bar at this time of the day.”

“A lot has happened in the past few minutes, I needed a clear head,” I swigged down a full glass of the drink before me down my throat.
“Send me your address,” he hung the call and 1 shared my live location with him.
With every passing second, the bottles before me multiplied in dumber.
“What could be the reason why a good looking young man like you will be wasting away in the bar, when he’s supposed to be in the office,” an older woman’s voice echoed in my head.
1 snapped my finger to the bar attendant for more.
“There’s no way you’re going to drink more,” thesame female voice echoed
“It’s enough, no more drinks for him,” she said to the bar attendant who I could see with my blurry vision coming with a
boule
“Who are you to tell me when to stop drinking? I stop only when I want to stop,”
We were still dragging it with the woman when Andrew intervened.
“Good day ma’am,” Andrew voice greeted.
“Bro, thank my goodness you’re here, tell them to bring me more drinks,”
“I think he has drunk enough, just help him get over whatever is making him drink himself to stupor,” the older woman said to Andrew.
“Thank you ma’am,”
“You’re welcome,” she said and walked away.
The bar attendant was about to serve
serve me the bottle in his hand.
“Enough, don’t give him any more drinks,”
Andrew settled the bill and helped me to the car.
“He drove to the penthouse,”
“Take me to the office,”
“No you cannot be in the office like this,”
“I need to talk to Eden,”
“Eden?! Is she the reason you’re like this,”
“Bro, you need to take it easy, you cannot be seen wasting away in the bar during work hours,”
