Chapter 45
Julie called Amanda.
She called Amanda several times but no one answered the call..
What Julie didn’t know was that Amanda had blacklisted her number right after the incident at the hotel.
So, Julie would only hear the mechanical tone but no one was ever going to answer the call.
Julie said, with her face darkening. They must have planned this together!”
If it hadn’t been for her good manners, she would’ve angrily thrown her phone away by now,
Suddenly, Samuel called her. After hanging up the phone, Julie felt a bit more relaxed. She said to Melanie, “Let’s go shopping today. Your Dad said he wanted to take you to the office of the Walters Group tomorrow,”
Melanie jumped up. “We’re going to the Walters Group tomorrow?”
Julie nodded. “Yes, that’s what your Dad said.”
Chris seemed a bit excited too. “Melanie, I’ll cover the cost of the clothes and jewelry for you today.”
Melanie said, “Thanks, Chris.”
Craig asked many people but none of them knew where Kylie was.
Because of the change online, his friends all felt sorry for him, thinking that he was dragged down by a woman who pestered him.
So, anyone who heard anything about Kylie would tell Craig-
With no other options, Craig had to contact Jessie,
In Jardora, Kylie’s best friend was Jessie. He thought maybe Jessie knew where Kylie was.
Jessie was focused on cooking the soup when she answered the phone. She didn’t check who was calling.
She said, “Hello, Jessie, it’s Craig
Jessie put down the spoon. “Who?”
Craig said, “Craig, Kylie’s boyfriend. We’ve met before.”
Jessie said, “I’ve met lots of people. Who do you think you are? Besides, Kylie doesn’t even have a boyfriend Then she quickly hung up.
Glancing at Craig’s name on her phone, she pouted, “Ugh, jinxt
She tapped on the screen and blacklisted Craig’s number.
She thought the number of this kind of jerk didn’t even deserve to be saved in her phone.
She thought, Are you trying to find Kylie through me? Dream o

Chapter 45
Kylie was busy until five o’clock.
She finished the work that she delayed in the past couple of days
Seeing that Kylie was walking out, Kevin handed her a glass of water. “Have some water.”
Kylie took it. “It’s already five. Why are you still here?”
Kevin said. “I was waiting for you.”
Noticing that Kevin was staring at her, Kylie laughed, “Do you want to tell me something?”
Kevin blinked with his charming eyes glittering. “Is it that obvious?”
He did have something to tell her but he wasn’t sure how to start

Kylie really liked Kevin, her younger brother. She said, “You’d usually be gone by this hour. Just tell me whatever you’re thinking about”
Kevin said. “Um… I’ve seen what people are talking about online. It looks like your ex–boyfriend was wronged. Are you thinking of getting back to him? I couldn’t help but want to tell you that where there’s smoke, there’s fire. Even if the woman pestered him, it’s his fault for not being clear enough when rejecting her. Otherwise, how could she kiss him?” He wasn’t the kind of person who could keep a secret so he told Kylie everything.
When Craig accused Kylie of being too suspicious, Kevin thought Craig wasn’t good enough for Kylie.
A real man owned up to everything instead of blaming everything on a woman.
After drinking the glass of water, Kylie still felt a bit thirsty. She poured some water for herself and looked at Kevin with a warm smile. “You’re absolutely right. For someone so young, you’re incredibly perceptive. I can tell you’re a promising young boy.”
In Kylie’s previous life, some people told her Craig was not a good man but she only thought they didn’t really know Craig,
But the truth was that she had been fooled by Craig for more than seven years.
Kevin was taken aback. “Really?”
Kylie smiled, “It’s true that you have a promising future and yes, did break up with a jerk. Anything else you’d like to know?”
At first, Kevin thought he would have to give a long speech and use a lot of examples to help Kylie realize Craig was a jerk and he was the trustworthy guy.
But it turned out that Kylie had known the truth.
He was suddenly at a loss for words, unsure how to show off his wisdom.
Scratching his head, he said, “I guess I was worrying too much.
Kylie said, “No. Actually, after hearing what you said, I am more sure that he’s a scumbag and there’s no way I’ll believe anything he says.”
Kylie took off the apron and took her bag out of the locker.
Kevin’s eyes lit up. He said, “Really? That’s great. I know so many girls who are stupid when they’re in love and won’t listen to anyone’s persuasion.”
Kylie looked sad for a brief moment. “It’s often hard to figure out the truth when you’re involved in something. It’ll be easier for those who are not involved in it. Or, maybe some people are just too good at acting. Finding out a jerk’s true colors often

comes at a high cost.”
Kevin noticed her sad look and was stunned. He thought it meant a lot.
He put his hands on his chest and thought, “Why did it suddenly hurt a little?”
Kevin asked cautiously, “Are you alright?”
Kylie glanced at the time. T’m fine. I have to go now. I have an appointment with a friend at six.”
Kevin blinked, noticing that Kylie didn’t look sad at all now. He suddenly thought he was just overthinking. He said, “Oh, I just remembered something. Did you send your resume to Steve’s team?”
He thought he would get to see her very often if Kylie joined his grandpa’s team.
Kylie was already at the door. She turned to Kevin and said, “Yes, but Mr. Roth’s team sets a very high bar. I’m afraid I won’t be hired. But thanks anyway. I’m leaving, See you tomorrow.”
Kevin said. “Make sure… Before he finished his words, Kylie had already left.
He rolled his eyes and then decided not to go home just yet. Instead, he decided to go to Oliver’s to grab some roasted goose to please his grandpa.
He was determined to persuade his grandpa to interview Kylie.
He was sure his grandpa would be impressed by Kylie as long as Kylie got the chance of an interview with him.
Kylie and Jessie planned to meet at a hot pot restaurant.
The restaurant had been around since their first year in college. It wasn’t big but it was affordable and had great food. Returning after graduation, they chose this place mostly because it brought back memories of their college days. The food tasted just like it always had.
The owner of the restaurant recognized them as soon as they sat down.
The owner asked, “Have you graduated from college already?”
“Yes, we graduated about six months ago. Jessie said, “We’ve been craving the food here so we drove an hour to here!”
The owner smiled brightly. “We’re about to close this restaurant. Soon, you won’t be able to enjoy our food. I’ll give you a few free dishes! Hope you enjoy it”
Kylie was surprised. “Why?”
“This whole area is going to be demolished. We’ll be moving out in about two weeks. The owner explained, pointing at the crowd outside the window, “Look. I heard the land was bought by the Walters Group. Some big shot is here to inspect the
land
Kylie and Jessie looked outside of the window.
Kylie saw Trevor. He was standing in the center of the group of people and talking with someone cautiously. She was shocked.
