I held my face, shocked. “What do you mean,
she tried to kill herself?”
Leading the charge against me was Tina’s best friend, Lisa.
She frowned in disgust. “What are you pretending for? You caused all this, and now you’re acting like you don’t know?”
With that, she angrily pulled out her phone and showed it to me.
The timestamp revealed that last night, Tina had posted a melodramatic message on social media, which displayed her traits of a pick–me

“If Charlotte hadn’t said it, I wouldn’t have known how much everyone dislikes me. I’m sorry for being such a burden to all of you. Don’t worry, it won’t be for much longer.”
Lisa glared at me. “Right after posting that, Tina turned on the gas in her room to kill herself! If we hadn’t sensed something was wrong and rushed over, she’d be dead by now!”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
Posting on social media before committing suicide? Was she afraid of actually dying?
Tina’s mother pointed at me, crying hysterically.
“It’s all your fault! What did you say to her?! Allen hasn’t been gone for long, and she’s still

so fragile. Why couldn’t you just be a little kinder to her… My poor daughter…”
It was the same old moral blackmail from the vulnerable group.
I looked around at their furious faces, unable to suppress a bitter smile.
“Kind? What more do you want from me?! On Valentine’s Day and the Christmas Day, David left me to be with her, and I didn’t even complain.”
I defiantly pointed at their tear–streaked faces.
“And what about her? She’s never satisfied with what she has. Did you even know she called my husband over last night, wearing almost nothing? I just pointed it out to her, as a friendly.

warning, and now it’s my fault?”
The moment I said that, their expressions shifted, becoming grim.
I turned to meet Lisa’s gaze and spoke coldly. “Lisa, I’m not as generous as you are. So from now on, you can let your husband go comfort her in the middle of the night. After all, we’re all friends, right? I’m sure you won’t mind.”
“You-!”
Lisa’s face turned crimson, left speechless by my
retort.
Tina’s mother was stunned for a moment before
her voice sharpened even more.
“You’re lying! My daughter would never do such.

a thing!”
“You’re just a petty, vicious woman, trying to slander her. How could Da I marry someone as toxic as you?!”
I remember the days after Allen passed away, Tina and her mother clung to Jenny, crying their
hearts out.
Later, I often brought them fruit and even gave them a substantial amount of money to help
with their move.
At the time, I didn’t think much of it–just felt sorry for a widow and her child.
But now, seeing how these ingrates have repaid me, it chilled me to the bone.

I was so angry that my abdomen started to ache.
Not wanting to say another word, I clutched my abdomen, wanting to kick them all out.
The crowd blocked the doorway, arguing loudly, clearly unwilling to let me off so easily.
Suddenly, a phone rang.
In the chaos, Tina’s mother answered, and her face instantly paled.
She cried out, “What? Something happened to Jenny?!”
