Chapter 4
“Mommy, let’s not keep broken things.”
Daisy turned the photo album face down on the table, hooked my finger and gently shook it.
My thoughts stopped abruptly. I smiled at her and looked away.
Once something is broken, it stays broken. Even if it’s repaired, the damage remains.
I packed up my things and moved them to another apartment in my name.
It was a house with three bedrooms and one living. Daisy and I each had our own room, and I divided the remaining room into two walk–in

closets for us.
The space was small but cozy.
After organizing Daisy’s things, I noticed
the empty closet and felt a pang of sorrow, thinking of taking her shopping for new clothes tomorrow.
“Mommy, please come here. I have something to show you.”
Daisy, with a touch of mystery, pulled me towards the bedroom.
When I opened the door, saw a large painting of the sea.
Next to it were two stick figures, one big and one small.

Daisy clumsily presented it to me, her eyes shining brightly.
“Does Mommy like the sea that Daisy drew?”
I looked down at her. Her face was smeared with paint, and the sparkle in her eyes was more dazzling than the drawing, which was what I wanna to cherish.
Tears couldn’t help falling as I staring.
“Mommy, don’t cry. Is Daisy’s drawing bad? I won’t draw anymore. Please don’t cry, Mommy.”
Daisy anxiously stood on tiptoe, managing to wipe my tears.
I suddenly chuckled and pulled her into my

embrace, murmuring, “Mommy fancies the picture Daisy drew very very much.”
Before Daisy came into my life, my memories of the sea were far from pleasant.
Soon after I was born, my parents abandoned me by the seaside to fend for myself.
If the orphanage director hadn’t found me, I might not have survived.
Later, Alexander’s mother visited the orphanage for charity, happened to take a special interest in me, funding my education through college.
During my senior year internship, Alexander’s father suddenly died of a heart attack. Confronted with an avalanche of malicious attacks, His family enterprise struggled on the

brink of bankruptcy.
Amid this adversity, Alexander’s childhood sweetheart moved abroad and cut off contact
with him.
Weren’t they like peas and carrots since forever?
Under these combined pressures, Alexander was devastated, no longer the confident figure he
once was.
I declined my mentor’s offer to study abroad and even rejected numerous offers from major domestic companies, resolutely joining Alexander’s family business, namely the Group of Lee.
Those years, I stayed by his side, enduring countless sleepless nights.

Later, we traveled to a coastal city for business and secured a major deal.
Marking the company’s official recovery, this deal was significant enough to embark a bright future for the company in its wake of corporate crisis.
We were both overjoyed, raising a toast with with a total lack of inhibition, and then ended up having an intimacy together.
“Joy, marry me, please.”
So many years of passion and dedication has finally paid–off as my wish was finally fulfilled.
However, Alexander’s promise to me of
marriage, purely for a last resort.

That night, I became pregnant.
Alexander’s mother had always been pleased with me and had long harbored the idea of making me her daughter–in–law.
As a matter of course, under various pressures, I was the most approprate one to get married with Alexander.
After the marriage, we treated each other with respect and enjoyed a period of relative happiness.
Until last year, when Olivia suddenly returned.
Her return ripped off the veil of hypocrisy that had masked our relationship with seemingly peacefulness
