Chapter 11
Since our last unpleasant meal at the
restaurant, George and the others had quieted down for a while.
Just as I thought life was finally returning to
peace.
The vacant house across from mine was bought by Alexander, and he and George moved in.
Our homes were close, and we’d run into each other almost daily.
“Joy, I’ve learned to simmer pork rib soup with my own hands, try some and see if it suits your taste.”

“Mom, I was very well–behaved today, and the teacher gave me a little red flower as a reward.”
The father and son took turns to pester me.
Even though they were repeatedly turned away, they still tirelessly came to bother me.

“I’ll transfer all my shares to you, not a cent less.
“Otherwise, I can’t guarantee if your position as CEO will remain stable.”

Before my mother–in–law passed away, out of guilt towards me, she transferred her shares in the company to me.

I frowned at the man I had loved for nearly ten years and nodded slowly:
“I believe you.

“But you wavered, every time you left me to take care of her, wasn’t that a hurt to me.
“I used to love you, and I would persuade myself to forgive you again and again.
“Now I don’t love you anymore, naturally I can’t do the so–called forgiveness.”
Alexander staggered as if he had heard some unbelievable news, falling back into his seat.
He reached out to grab something, but it was in vain.
