Chapter 8
Seeing that I was unyielding, the old classmates finally panicked.
No longer daring to confront me directly, they turned their collective ire on Felicity.
“It’s all your fault, you shameless witch! You didn’t get the facts straight and went
off on a rant!”
“Seriously! You’re the mistress here, yet you’re pointing fingers at her and dragging us into this mess!”
“And claiming to be the wife of the CEO of All Grand Group? Have you no shame?”
“You dragged us into this mess just because we wanted to be on your good side! Now you want us to pay for your mistakes? Not a chance!”
“Exactly! You’re the one who should foot the bill for that 790 million dollars! Don’t even think about dragging us into this!”

In the face of their accusations, Felicity’s rage boiled over.
She retorted without hesitation, “You
pathetic losers have the audacity to blame me?
“From high school, it was you who egged me on to bully others!
“If it weren’t for your desperate attempts to climb the social ladder, I wouldn’t have been pushed into this position at all!
“You treated me like royalty when you thought I was the president’s wife, but now that the chips are down, you’re all ready to throw me under the bus!
“Look at you all–so shameless, it’s like you were born to be lapdogs! Not one of you is getting out of here today!”
Felicity and her old classmates went back
and forth, hurling insults at each other. If the police hadn’t intervened just in time, they might have ended up in a full–blown
brawl.

After the shouting match, the classmates tried to defend themselves, claiming they hadn’t broken anything–that it was all someone else’s doing.
But when the police pulled out the
surveillance footage from the incident, their bravado crumbled.
Each person was held accountable for their deeds.
Some, desperate to avoid jail time, pleaded for money, selling off possessions and begging for loans, only to leave defeated. after settling their debts.
Others faced divorce papers from their spouses and found themselves cut off from friends and family.
With no one willing to lend them a dime, they were left to face the consequences of their actions behind bars.
As for Felicity, she had been the most enthusiastic participant in the chaos.

Unsurprisingly, the debt she incurred was the highest.
Now, confronted with this astronomical compensation demand, she found herself at a loss and turned to Logan for help.
“Logan, for the sake of our years together, can’t you help me out? There’s no way I can come up with this much money, even if I sold myself!” Felicity wailed, tears. streaming down her face, her voice dripping with desperation.
Logan, feeling a pang of sympathy,
hesitated for a moment before glancing at
me with pleading eyes.
“Honey, we don’t have to go to such extremes. Can’t you cut her some slack? Just this once, for old times‘ sake?”
I shot him a cold look. “Cut her slack?
Logan, have you no dignity left? Do you honestly think you have any leverage with me right now?

by your false affection for all these years, it makes me sick.
“I’ve already drafted the divorce papers. From today onward, we’re done.”
Without looking back, I walked away.
Felicity and the classmates who couldn’t pay their debts were all taken into custody, facing charges for their actions.
Even Amanda found herself under investigation due to her involvement.
As for Logan, he walked away with nothing but the clothes on his back, per our agreement.
I transitioned from a life of being someone’s partner to a solitary existence.
While it took some getting used to, I found a strange sense of freedom in it.
Then, one day, while I was out for my
morning jog, I spotted Logan lurking on a path I often ran.

His unkempt beard and wild eyes sent a shiver down my spine. The moment he saw me, his expression twisted into something menacing as he lunged forward, pulling out a knife.
“You bitch! I’ve finally caught up with you!” Logan shouted, his voice filled with rage.
I frowned slightly, keeping my cool. “Logan, what the hell do you think you’re doing?”
He glared at me, fury burning in his eyes. “What am I doing? You heartless bitch! You’ve turned me from a successful CEO into a homeless man scavenging like a stray dog! And you still have the nerve to ask what I’m doing?
“So what if I was with you for the money? What’s the big deal? Every man’s got his vices. Just because I found success doesn’t mean I can’t seek real love too! Why do you think you have the right to make my life miserable over this?”

Seeing Logan spiraling into a rage like this made me sigh, and I spoke earnestly, “Logan, you’re still young. Put down the knife. You still have a chance, you know.”
“Chance? What the hell are you talking about?” Logan shouted, advancing on me with fists clenched.
He continued, “Because of you, I’ve lost everything. If I can’t have peace, then neither will you! Go to hell!”
He brandished the knife and lunged at me.
In that split second, a hidden bodyguard sprang into action, delivering a swift kick that sent Logan flying back..
From the moment I figured out that Logan was a schemer, I had kept my guard up.
I knew someone like him wouldn’t just back down easily.
That was why I had hired a bodyguard to quietly watch over me every day.
I hadn’t expected it would come in handy

so soon.
“Take him to the police station,” I ordered coldly and turned on my heel, heading
home.
Later, I heard that Logan’s violent temper had gotten the better of him in prison, leading to a brutal fight that left him with two broken legs, permanently disabled.
As for me, I found my footing again, reclaiming control over my life.
I learned not to rely on anyone else for my happiness.
Being on my own felt liberating–no disappointments, no betrayals, just clarity and freedom.
Without a man, a woman could still shine, thriving in independence and grace.
Loving myself was the best romance I could embrace.
