I thought about it and closed the door.
It was better not to let others hear about this.
I walked into the deserted living room and poured two cups of hot water.
“Matt, let’s talk.”
My emotions were really calm.
I was not kidding at all.
Matt also noticed this and sat next to me.
I wanted to bring him water, but he also reached out his hand.
And then he touched my cold hand.
His eyebrows furrowed even tighter, “Why are your hands so cold?”
I casually withdrew my hand and smiled, “It’s winter now. It’s normal to have cold hands and feet.

By the way, let’s talk about divorce.”
Matt glanced at me coldly, and his thin lips moved slightly, “You’re dreaming.”
He seemed a little angry, and his eyes looked at me with a slight resentment.
I pinched my fingertips and said calmly, “If we don’t get a divorce, isn’t Rose pitiful? If you really like her, you shouldn’t let her be subject to criticism. In this society, it’s not even acceptable to be a mistress.”
He heard this, calm and steady, without any change on his face.
Instead, he asked with a playful tone, “Is that so? But why do I feel like you, as the original wife, no longer care?”
I did care.
I just dared not say it.
This marriage was originally snatched by
- me.
What else could I say?

I sighed deeply.
My stomach seemed to start hurting again.
Cold sweat started to break out on my back.
Even when I picked up the water cup, my hands were trembling.
Matt pursed his lips, and there was a hint of inquiry in his eyes.
Vaguely, I could still see a trace of worry.
But I knew it was just an illusion.
He disliked me so much. How could he possibly worry about me?
“Vanessa, what’s wrong with you?”
I licked my dry lips and replied, “I’m on my period, and it’s menstrual pain.”
He knew that every time I had my period, it made me cry in pain.
Matt’s eyebrows furrowed even tighter, and he told me to lie down on the bed.

I really had no strength left, so I followed his words.
But I didn’t know what he was thinking.
When I was in unbearable pain and wanted to get up to take a painkiller.
He brought me a bowl of hot brown sugar
water.
He came against the light, and the golden light reflected on him, as if he had crossed a layer of golden light,
bright and dazzling,
just like the first time I saw him.
Clean and pure,
like the moon hanging high in the sky, it was within reach but not attainable.
“Drink it while it’s hot.”
The abrupt words brought me back to my thoughts.
I slowly got up.

I took the bowl from his hand and murmured thanks.
The brown sugar water he made tasted just like the one made by the nanny at home.
It was sweet and sticky, but there was no hint of ginger.
It was very delicious.
But I didn’t have much appetite because of the pain.
I drank some hastily and then stopped.
“Matt, I want to go to sleep. If you have nothing to do, you can leave…”
Before I finished speaking, he took off his coat on his own,
and sat down by the bed.
He calmly said, “It’s getting late, so I’ll stay here for the night.”
He went straight to bed.
Facing my puzzled gaze, he closed his eyes,

an attitude of refusing to communicate with me.
At this point, I was even more confused.
Or perhaps, I had never understood him.
