“I’ve thought a lot these days, and I finally realize I was wrong.”
“In the past, I always thought that as long as I turned around, you would be right behind me. My excessive certainty made me arrogant and proud, which belittled you.”
He forced a painful smile, his lips pale. “So my arrogance made me miss out on you.”
Alexander’s body swayed slightly, and the blood drained from his already pale face. Tears seemed to well up in his eyes. “Samantha, I’m so unwilling to accept this… so unwilling…”
“Can you give me a chance to make amends, to pursue you again?”
“I’ll give you 100 days, no, a thousand days, ten thousand days of breakfast… I beg you, give me a chance…”
I was about to speak.
But someone beat me to it.
A cold voice cut in abruptly, “I’ve already taken care of her lifetime of breakfasts, so no need to trouble anyone else.”
In the next moment, I was enveloped in a solid, warm embrace. Ethan held me possessively and coldly said to Alexander, “Stop thinking about someone else’s wife.”
“Otherwise, be careful walking alone at night. Watch out for getting thrown into a sack.”
Alexander fled in disgrace.
He left to study abroad.
Liam said he went to another country to heal from heartbreak.
In my view, Alexander was more unwilling than heartbroken. Unwilling to accept that the childhood sweetheart who had always been behind him had
moved on.
If I were still chasing after him now, I would probably be just as transient as he was–coming and going as he pleased.
Some people always regret losing something.
But whether Alexander was healing from heartbreak or simply unwilling, was no longer my concern.
What I cared about was when Ethan had started to like me, to the point of secretly falling in love.
When I asked this question, he was holding me on the balcony as we watched the sunset. His voice was deep and charming, like a song that captivated me.
“I fell for a girl who sneaked into my study, watched me for a while, and then fell asleep.”
When he said this, his eyes were gentle and his voice held a faint smile. “After she fell asleep, I watched her for a while.”
“Later, worried she might catch a cold, I covered her with my coat, and while doing so, I stole a kiss from her.”
“That night, I couldn’t sleep, thinking about how to confess to her.
“The next day, I saw her at the cinema with another boy.”
“My sister said that boy was her childhood sweetheart, and their families had agreed to arrange a marriage for their children.

My hand itched to drag Liam out and give him a good talking–to..
Ethan seemed to read my mind and chuckled lightly. “After
engagement, I cut off her pocket money for half a month as punishment:
No wonder during that period, Liam was always hanging around me, eating lavishly, hesitating to speak, and looking pitiful. Whenever I asked what was wrong, she wouldn’t say.
He held me close. “Fortunately, fate brought us back together. We were always meant to be.”
After kissing me, he whispered in my ear, “Samantha, you are my most cherished recovery. How could I allow anyone else to be as lucky as I am?”
I sighed.
Oh dear.
That ‘someone else” is already abroad.
And his jealousy is still running rampant!
