So, Luke’s bride went from being me to being my sister, Grace.
When Grace heard the good news, color returned to her usually pale face.
As the wedding day approached, Grace radiated joy, her happiness obvious in every smile and glance.
Meanwhile, I noticed that Mom’s expression grew darker with each passing day.
On the day of the wedding, Grace looked absolutely stunning.
She wore a luxurious white gown and a diamond tiara, looking just like a princess out of a fairytale.
Right before she walked down the aisle, Grace glanced at Mom, reluctant to leave her side.
“Mom, I’m getting married and won’t be around much anymore. Please take good care of yourself.”
Mom nodded kindly and reached out to gently adjust Grace’s veil.
“I still remember when you and Isla were just tiny babies, and now look how much you’ve grown.”
Grace hadn’t expected my name to come up on her wedding day, and her face twisted with discomfort.
She forced an awkward smile, pretending to be annoyed.
“Mom, it’s my big day today. Let’s not talk about Isla, okay?”
Mom paused while adjusting her veil, then gave Grace a deep look and smiled, nodding.
“Alright, you’re the bride today. I’ll do as you say. It’s getting late. Go on, everyone’s waiting for you.”
Grace, touched, nodded gratefully. With her family’s approval, she beamed with happiness and turned to walk toward Luke.
“Grace…”

Mom suddenly called out to Grace again, and I caught the glint of something sharp hidden in her sleeve.
Grace turned back with a smile. In the next second, that smile froze on her face.
Mom drove a knife straight into Grace’s heart. Blood gushed out, splattering across her face and soaking her white gown.
I saw the crazed look on Mom’s face.
“How dare you, you ungrateful wretch! You survived using Isla’s kidney, and now you shamelessly try to steal her husband, too! “You’ve been rotten from the start. I was blind to have neglected Isla for so many years because of you. Go down and apologize to Isla!” Grace stared in disbelief, her eyes wide as blood continued to pour from her mouth and nose.
I thought, quite seriously, that her death might be even more gruesome than mine.
The scene erupted into chaos. Guests screamed and fled the site as fast as they could.
In the end, only Mom, Dad, Luke, and Grace’s bloodied body
remained.
Not one of them mentioned calling for help, just like when they had
all forced me to donate my kidney to my sister.
The three of them simply watched as Grace gasped for air and struggled. Finally, her wide–open eyes grew dim.
A deep sadness washed over me.
How absurd this world was. They used my kidney to save Grace. Once I died, they regretted it.
So, they killed her, hoping to find peace.
Luke, expressionless, gently closed her eyes.
I heard Luke muttering, “I’m sorry, Grace. I can’t marry you.
promised Isla I would marry her.”

I couldn’t help but burst into laughter, doubling over in hysterics.
“Oh, wait. I forgot. I’m already dead. I can’t feel pain anymore.”
Even now, Luke was trying to justify everything he did as being for
- me.
What a joke.
