I Let It Was Spring Again
Eric affectionately pulled Wanda into his embrace. “Why were you hiding in the closet again? If I didn’t know you so well, I might’ve called the police to search the whole world
for you.”
As he spoke, a faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips, a trace of humor evident in
his expression.
Wanda recalled similar moments from the past, but those memories now felt like
distant echoes of the past.
Her eyes dimmed and she didn’t respond.
“What’s this on your neck?” she asked. She feigned confusion as she gestured to the
red marks on Eric’s skin.
It seemed he had been indulging himself quite a bit these past few days. He even
forgot to cover his tracks.
Eric covered his mouth and coughed awkwardly, his Adam’s apple bobbed up and
down nervously.
“They’re probably mosquito bites,” he mumbled. “You wouldn’t suspect me of fooling. around, would you? You know you’re the only woman I’ve ever loved.”
“Really?” I asked.
It was in the middle of winter. Where would a mosquito come from?
Without waiting for his reply, Wanda moved past him and went to wash up, leaving Eric
standing there, pale–faced.
Perhaps out of guilt, he soon followed her and wrapped his arms tightly around her
waist from behind.
As he gazed at their reflection in the mirror, he sighed, “Can you believe it? Like a blink
of an eye, we’ve been married for seven years now. There are still so many more years
ahead of us.”
Wanda froze for a moment. Her toothbrush stopped moving. Inwardly, she murmured to herself. Well too bad there won’t be another seven years for us.
When she came out of the bathroom and returned to the bedroom, Eric was already
gone. He left her a message saying the product launch had been postponed by two hours
He told her that in an hour a driver would come to pick her up and take her to the event venue. He urged her to dress nicely, hinting at surprise waiting for her.
Meanwhile, Christina sent her a text as we
It said, “Wanda so what if you’re

me.”
Even though she had known that this would be the outcome, Wanda’s heart was still
flooded with a few moments of sourness.
After she typed down a few words with difficulty, she dialed the number of the person
in charge of the fake death.
“Eric has gone to find Christina. According to this positioning, you guys can prepare
yourselves halfway. Make sure the lifelike dummy must die under his car.”
After she hung up the phone, Wanda took a serious look at the room she had lived in for several years. Actually, there wasn’t much worth holding onto.
She left almost everything behind. She only took a necklace from a charity auction. It was a keepsake that had once belonged to her mother.
When she went downstairs, she found Ben sitting in front of the TV. He was munching on junk food she usually wouldn’t allow.
It had only been a few days since she had seen him and his once–charming features had puffed up, his face now round from indulgence.
Upon spotting her, Ben tried to hide the cream–filled cake behind his back. Guilt was
written all over his face.
Wanda did not get angry. She crouched down to his eye level while studying the child,
who shared half her husband’s blood.
“If your father and I get divorced, would you be okay with Christina taking care of you
instead?” she asked.
Ben didn’t even register the first part of her sentence. His eyes lit up with excitement. He asked, “Really? Can Christina stay and live here with me?”
When she heard her son’s cruel response, Wanda did not feel sad, only emptiness.
After all, Ben inherited half of Eric’s blood. It was a reminder of his father’s cold and
unfeeling nature.
Still, she maintained a neutral expression as she gave her final instructions, “I won’t be taking you to school anymore. Remember, don’t go with strangers or eat anything they
give you.
“I know,” Beni replied casually. He had already lost interest. “When Christina moves in,
she’ll stay with me, so you can rest easy, Mom
He clearly hadn’t taken a word of hers to heart.
Ben only thought that his mother was acting so strange–today. She was so strange that it made his little heartache in a way he couldn’t quite describe.

After her final words, Wanda placed the signed divorce papers in the most vivid view on the entryway table. She snapped her SIM card in half and deleted all messages related to the fake death organization.
The only things she left intact were her chat history with Christina and a meticulously crafted diary meant for Eric.
The reason she did that was because
she wanted him to understand, that every time he abandoned her for Christina, the torment she had to endure was beyond words.
That beneath his self–proclaimed devotion, the grievances she bore had cut deep into
her soul.
She wanted the seemingly perfect, clandestine couple to turn on each other after her death, to be consumed by blame and resentment.
More than that, she wanted Eric to spend the rest of his life haunted by guilt, tormented by the knowledge that his beloved had died at his hands. Day after day would be a sleepless night, she wanted him to drownin regret.
With everything in place, Wanda boarded a plane bound for a foreign land. From this moment on, the world would no longer know has Mrs. Gordon and she would be reborn as the new Wanda Hamilton.
