Josh followed her finger and turned toward

He locked eyes with me.
He went white.
He dropped Brayden.
Brayden hit the pavement with a thud.
“Dad, what the heck?”
Brayden’s mom picked him up and said:
“Honey, he saw the people who hurt his son.
and got mad.”
“He is eager to make them pay!”
The parents nodded:
“Josh looks pale! Mad as heck.”

“Brad Sterling’s brother. He doesn’t take
crap!”
“This lowlife messed with his family. She’s
toast!”
Everyone waited for Josh to pop off.
He was frozen.
Seeing no reaction, Brayden’s mom added:
“That trash talked smack to me! She said she
was Brad Sterling. Funny, right?”
“Take her down! She messed with the
Sterlings!”
The other parents chimed in:
“She pulled up in a clunker and thought she
was hot stuff!”
“She knows you and Brad are tight. She’s
dissing the Sterling family!”
“She’d steal from you if she could!”
“Don’t let her get away with this!”

Josh looked worse.
He was sweating.
My daughter tugged on my arm, looking at
Josh:
“Mr. Miller, why are they calling your
‘Sterling‘?”
Before Josh could react, Brayden shoved her
away:
“You’re a loser! Don’t lie about knowing my
dad!”
“You don’t even know his name! You’re
trash!”
He swung at her.
Josh snapped. He grabbed Brayden and threw
him aside.
