Chapter 415
When Noelle woke up, the sky outside was already bright. The snowing had stopped, but inside the house, she was
still alone.
Noelle had thought Hendrix would come talk to her today. After all, based on her understanding of him, he was never one to drag things out for too long. The longer it dragged on, the more it would seem like he had lost.
But this time, Noelle was wrong again.
Hendrix didn’t come back the entire day. Instead, in the evening, it was Beatrice who called Noelle, asking her to come to the villa in the outskirts.
Noelle didn’t know what she wanted, but she still went the next day.
Perhaps it was the comfortable living environment, but Beatrice looked noticeably better than before. She had also abandoned her usual traditional and expensive outfits. Dressed in casual wear with her hair tied in a simple low ponytail, she looked much younger and more alive.
In the past, Noelle had always felt that Beatrice was like a woman trapped inside a picture frame. But now, as if she had finally stepped out.
When Noelle found her, Beatrice was in the yard, planting a tree. She had dug a hole by herself and was now struggling to push a small sapling into it.
Noelle watched for a moment before finally stepping forward to help.
Only then did Beatrice notice her. She looked up and, with a smile, said, “You’re here.”
Noelle gave a soft hum in response.
it was
“My friend gave me this mango tree as a gift. They said the fruit is delicious. I’m planting it now–let’s see if it bears fruit next year. Oh, right. Don’t you love mangoes?”
Noelle didn’t recall ever having a particular fondness for mangoes. But hearing Beatrice’s words, she suddenly remembered the mango cake Hendrix had bought for her last time.
So, was it from that incident that he concluded she liked mangoes?
Noelle smiled wryly, then said, “Isn’t this the wrong time to plant a tree?”
“It is, a little. But my friend said as long as I take good care of it, timing doesn’t really matter. Besides, I’ve had. nothing else to do lately, so I thought I’d give it a try.”
Since Beatrice had already put it that way, Noelle didn’t argue further and simply nodded.
By then, Beatrice had started filling the soil back in.
Noelle, having nothing else to do, was about to help when Beatrice suddenly reached out to stop her.
“Don’t. You’re carrying a child–you shouldn’t strain yourself.”
Noelle paused, then smiled slightly. “It’s fine. I’m not that fragile.
“That won’t do. This isn’t even anything important. What if Hendrix comes after me because you tire yourself out over this?”
It was clear that the relationship between Beatrice and Hendrix had gotten better. At the very least, Noelle had never heard her speak about him in such an affectionate to before.
Chapter 415
For the first time, they finally seemed like a real mother and son.
As Noelle was lost in thought, Beatrice caught the change in her expression.
“What’s with that look? You two didn’t have a fight, did you?”
After snapping back to reality, Noelle glanced at her and smiled.
Beatrice paused in her movements. “So, you really did?”
“Not exactly. We just cleared some things up,” Noelle replied, her tone indifferent–or rather, completely unconcerned.
It was only then that Beatrice seemed to realize something. Her hands slowly came to a stop.
Then, she asked, “So? What’s the outcome?”
