“Noe-” Dylan started, but Noelle didn’t even glance at him.
Instead, she strode directly toward Hendrix, stopping in front of him. “Let’s go,” she said hoarsely.
Hendrix narrowed his eyes.
Noelle, however, wasn’t in the mood to think about anything else. She reached out and grabbed his arm without
hesitation.
Hendrix didn’t put up any resistance, but just as they were about to leave, Dylan seemed to snap out of his daze and grabbed Noelle’s other hand.
The movement made Hendrix’s expression darken, and he was about to say something when Noelle turned to Dylan first.
“There’s no need to feel bad about this. I didn’t choose you either. With Elm Group in its current state, I can only take the path that benefits the company the most. I’d been thinking about how to tell you, but now, it doesn’t matter. Neither of us has to feel guilty anymore.
“As for the wedding… let’s cancel it.”
With that, she pried Dylan’s hand off her wrist and firmly pulled Hendrix forward.

Noelle was no different. Just one more insignificant, powerless figure in a city that thrived on indifference. So, she understood that she couldn’t change anything.
Even though she thought she had given so much and believed she had climbed high enough to matter, the truth was that Hendrix could crush her with a mere flick of his hand. To make matters worse, she didn’t even have the strength to fight back.

Noelle finally stopped walking, but she didn’t turn around, instead, she slowly let go of his hand.

“Yes, you’ve won,” Noelle replied without hesitation, turning to face him. “Are you satisfied now?”

silence.
But Noelle didn’t seem to notice. She simply asked, “Where are we going now? Nivis Villa? Or just a random hotel?

Noelle didn’t even glance at him. Instead, she continued, “Let’s go. I have to go to the hospital tomorrow. My father’s awake now, but I still need to see him and update him on everything here.”
Her voice was unnervingly calm. Or perhaps the right word was indifferent, as if all of this was nothing more than a job to her.
