Book6Chapter2
Early in the morning. Ethan was gone. I knew where he went, he had been leaving early and coming back late these days.
His assistant, Chris, called me several times looking for him.
Chris said he hadn’t been to the company lately.
Putting everything together, he could only be taking care of Emily.
After making an appointment, I took a taxi to the hospital. The abortion procedure was quick, and I was pushed out after ten minutes.
Coincidentally, I ran into Ethan when I was paying the bill. He was holding Emily’s shoulder, frowning at me, “You followed me?”
I didn’t answer him, but looked at Emily. She unnaturally avoided my gaze and pretended to be angry, pinching Ethan’s ear, “How can you say that? Claire wouldn’t follow us, we’re open and honest, Claire understands.”
Emily’s masterful use of language shifted the problem to me. I could only smile and reply, “Yes, it’s none of my business that you guys are here for a prenatal checkup, why would I follow you?”
Seeing my blunt words, Ethan angrily pushed me, “What do you mean? I only
treat Emily as a sister.”
I had just had the surgery and was weak, and was
immediately pushed to the
ground by him. The pain in my lower body made me frown and gasp.
Seeing this, Emily immediately squatted down to help me, while verbally blaming Ethan, but her expression was mocking me with a triumphant smile.

I pushed her away in disgust, trying to get up by supporting myself against the wall. Unexpectedly, she sat down on the floor, clutching her stomach and crying
out in pain.
Ethan hurriedly helped her up and yelled at me, “If anything happens to Emily, I’ll
never forgive you.”
I was in so much pain that I started to break out in cold sweats, watching helplessly as my husband abandoned me and left with another woman.
I was even more grateful that I didn’t keep the child. How could a man who didn’t even love his own wife love his child?
Back home, I took out my phone and wanted to post a message on my social media, but saw Emily’s new post. The picture was of Ethan’s back, the caption: Feeling completely secure with a man who loves you like this.
Below were replies from Ethan’s close friends.
Tom: “This back doesn’t look like your hubby, lol.”
Jason: “Good job, buddy, you won back your goddess‘ heart.”
Paul: “Oh, I get it, I get it, so the sperm is from this guy, congrats, congrats.”
Just one second later, I saw Ethan’s comment.
“Don’t talk nonsense, I just helped out, are you guys trying to see my wife divorce. me by stirring up trouble?”
As soon as he said this, his buddies all tacitly replied, “Roger that, got it.”
But Tom replied, “What are you afraid of? What good is a petty woman, better to get a divorce. Be with Emily, everyone knows you haven’t let go after all these years, why not follow your heart!”

Book Chapter2
Tom was Ethan’s best friend since childhood. He didn’t like me very much, always thinking I was not worthy of his good buddy, and not as good as Emily.
He said I was not as pretty as Emily, not as feminine as Emily, not as understanding as Emily. In his eyes, I was no match for Emily in any way.
But I didn’t say anything for Ethan’s sake. Now that my marriage with Ethan had broken down, I didn’t need to save face for anyone.
I also replied to him, “We’re about to get a divorce, thank you for worrying about Ethan for so many years.”
After sending it, I also clicked on my social media homepage, selected two pictures, one of the pregnancy test and the other of the discharge summary.
The caption: “Finally free.”
