Book6Chapter8
William seemed to be afraid that I would soften, he gently tugged on my sleeve.
I reassured him, “Don’t worry.”
Then I turned to Ethan, “To be honest, you and Emily are a good match. You’re both selfish, you should wait for her to get out of jail and marry her, it’s best if you two stay together and don’t harm anyone else.”
Ethan looked up at me with a lifeless expression, his lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but didn’t know where to start.
His eyes were filled with despair and helplessness, as if he had lost all hope and
courage.
I ignored him and pulled William towards my house.
My parents were very enthusiastic when they saw William, asking him all sorts of questions.
William had always been a model child, my parents liked him very much and even recognized him as their godson.
I also recognized his mother as my godmother. Whenever we visited each other’s homes, we were treated like royalty.
But since I got married, he rarely came to my house.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. I opened the door and saw William’s
mother.
She was stunned for a moment when she saw me, then hugged me and kissed me happily.

Just like when I was a child, she still treated me like a little girl.
“Claire, when did you come back?”
I smiled and pulled her into the house, “Just a while ago, your precious son is here
too.”
“Come on, come on, it’s rare for both of you to be back, let’s go out for a gathering
later.”
My mom immediately got up to greet her best friend when she saw her.
Looking at this harmonious scene, my eyes teared up. For all these years, I had focused all my attention on Ethan, almost forgetting my own life.
Every day, I was consumed by all kinds of trivial matters between him and Emily, I got sick
many times but didn’t dare tell my parents for fear of worrying them.
Fortunately, I was finally free this time.
A week later, my mom excitedly told me a bombshell: William’s mother wanted to
set us up.
I was shocked, I thought they must be crazy.
Although William was only a year older than me, he had always treated me like a sister, how could he possibly like me?
This matchmaking would make it awkward for me to face him in the future.
But when my mom learned of my worries, she mysteriously told me that it was
William who brought it up first.
I was shocked again, how could he…
Years later, I still married William.
