I left with Nicholas.
He didn’t open the car window. He smoked one cigarette after another, making
me cough.
Nicholas and I knew each other from before.
Before my family went bankrupt, he confessed to me. But back then, I was entirely focused on Jordan, so I rejected him several times.
It wasn’t until last week that he suddenly came to find me.
Nicholas said that if I married him, he would help me pay off my debts.
I asked the reason.
He said proudly, “I want to prove that you chose the wrong person back then. Only I can save you. That poor boy would only drag you down.”
Oh, he wanted to marry me just to satisfy his own hero complex. just to corner me.
How ridiculous.
Today, I had no choice but to let him help me out.
I only needed him to make a phone call, so I could find an excuse to leave.
I don’t know how he managed to find me.
I said coldly, “Why did you pretend to be my fiancé?”
“What’s
the difference? We’re getting married soon anyway,” he said.

“I haven’t agreed to marry you,” I replied.
“Do you have any other choice? Miss Torres, you’re drowning in debt. Whoever
would be a fool. Besides me, who else would want you? That guy just
marries you
now?”
Nicholas sneered.
“He’s the poor boyfriend you had in college, right? Let me tell you, he’s back to humiliate you. He couldn’t stand up to you before, but now that you’re down and out, he’s probably laughing at you inside.”
“That’s none of your business!”
“How is it not? He took my woman before. Now I have to cut him down a notch…”
“Nicholas, I’m not your possession! I didn’t agree to be with you before, and I
never will!”
I got out of the car. Nicholas didn’t stop me.
“Whether you agree or not, do you think it’s up to you? Hannah, think about your
family.”
His arrogant face reminded me of the past.
The people who spread rumors and mocked Jordan were just like this.
Is that how Jordan sees me too?
